Shannan Taylor on Life Support
Shocking news coming out of Australia, Shannon Taylor is on life support, he had battled problems outside of the ring during his life.
Shannon was a very brave boxer, who fought for the world title against Shane Mosley and Arthur Abraham. He also held various titles such as the WBF and area titles of the IBF.

I checked The Australian newspaper sites, and it was reported there that his life support had been switched off and he'd passed away. Sad news.coneye wrote:He's in icu but not gone yet apparantly.

RIP.
I say him in an amazingly exciting fight against Corey Johnson on the McCullough-Bueno card in Dublin years ago. I think both fighters were down in the last round as well.

His partner has apparently said he's on life support in recent hours.

Not R.I.P at the moment, but pretty close to it.
Also ignore the incorrect press reports re his death, some guys on the Aussie forum are well connected with James Myer, if you want to avoid the confusion keep your eyes on this forum thread.

On previous form and from the way he talked it up, I really thought that he'd give Richard Williams hell when they fought. Then the stories started to come out afterwards about his personal problems back in Australia. He seemed a lovely guy.

He was quoted as calling cocaine "the devil's powder" some years ago when his drug problems were first highlighted.Deno1986 wrote:Suspected drug overdose according to a guy on the Ozzie Forum.reggaereggae wrote:Anyone kknow the cause of the injuries?
I hope he pulls through this although it would all appear pretty bleak.
Very sad to see a warrior of Taylor's standing in this sort of condition.

Apologies for getting this wrong earlier, but when i got up it was widely reported by on national newspapers websites that he had died, and was on several boxing websites.
addictions are a terrible thing, i spent a couple of years in Australia, and it has big problems with drugs, drink and gambling. Easy to slip into it, and it can happen to anyone

Quote from the OZ Forum:
great news but still a lot to go
Taylor’s father Steve confirmed his son opened his eyes this afternoon shortly after he visited him for the first time.
“I ended up going in and we talked to him,” he said.“I told him I need help with the kids he’s training.”
Taylor is still on life support but the improvement has stunned some, with doctors at one stage considering turning off his life support machine this morning.
“But he has opened his eyes and squeezed a hand,” Mr Taylor said
