That's a good point but it depends if the vulnerable fighters own skills are exciting which I find Haye to be 'most' the time.crusader wrote:The top sentence has nothing to do with Haye being vulnerable though, and as you stated before you found Ruiz-Haye to be exciting due to Haye's vulnerability. You're right that anyone in the HW division can get clipped, but Ruiz has never shown any sort of meaningful power, especially in his later years, and it became very clear early on that he was not hurting Haye. The suspense came from seeing if Haye could KO Ruiz.
Anyhow Holyfield said Ruiz hits a lot harder than anyone thinks and Haye was taking one or two he shouldn't and he doesn't have a HW chin. Anyone can get clipped
It's all subjective so your opinion is perfectly fair, but I find it difficult to call more than one of Haye''s HW bouts exciting. If fights are exciting simply because a fighter is vulnerable, then the HW division is littered with fighters who are great to watch.

I can't see Haye v Vitali being anywhere other than Sky Box Office. Despite all the gnashing and wailing to the contrary, the fight will sell good numbers and Sky would lap it up. I can picture the hype overdrive for the fight to sell Box Office subs, but can you imagine this hidden away on allegedly?iamasadlittleboy wrote:Is this how Allegedly channel expects to sell some of those subscriptions? Buy up Haye v Klitschko (use the links to Groves as way to get it) and sell them on the back of it?...very, very risky.

Very decent oddsJ-C wrote:Early odds out
Vitali Klitschko – 1/4
David Haye – 10/3
Vitali Klitschko by Decision or Technical Decision –4/6
Vitali Klitschko by KO TKO or Disqualification – 9/4
David Haye by KO TKO or Disqualification – 5/1
David Haye by Decision or Technical Decision – 14/1
Draw or Technical Draw – 28
About what I expected, I though Haye would be about 4/1
Re: Haye v Vitali...
I'm really looking forward to this fight. Lets hope its a good one.
Re: Haye v Vitali...
Karl every time you write something i wonder if you have just made it up in your head. Ruiz was the manditory there were 5 kd's, that is exciting.Karl Jade wrote:None of them were exciting. We knew he was going to blow away Harrison, Bonin and Barett, and the Ruiz, Valuev and Klitschko fights weren't really entertaining fights at all.kingfinn wrote:he only had 6 hw fights and 3 of them were exciting and one lasted about 8 minutes. So thats not really true is it.Karl Jade wrote:Brings 'excitement' apparently.
Just about every one of his HW fights have been unwatchable crap.
He's very much a safety first fighter at HW, masked somewhat by abysmal hand-picked opponents.
Barrett was a gate keeper and was a fight haye had to prove himself in, it ended with a brutal ko and had god knows how many kd's including haye being on the canvas, that is exciting.
The harrison fight was less than 3 rounds long and resulted in a battering thats not even long enough to be considered boring.
The valuev fight was what it was, it was interesting enough to watch at the time because you didnt know what was going to happen, if you already knew the result it would have been boring.
The klitschko fight was a poor fight.
Bonin was a 1 round demolision i dont know if you can really consider a 1 round ko boring especially since haye was still campaigning at cruiser.
Explain to me how that makes the majority of his HW fights unwatchable crap.
http://youtu.be/aQSuW_iC7OY
yeah well boring
If you had written "non of hayes fights were epic or classic" then i would agree, but most of his fights were entertaining.
Re: Haye v Vitali...
Typical Haye fan - not an ounce of boxing integrity. Have a look at John Ruiz's boxing record post-2005 and tell me you didn't expect Haye to stop him. He was completely done when he arrived in Manchester and had been for a while.
Watching a man beat up a man he should be able to beat up is not exciting to me, it may be to you but not me. It would have been exciting had he fought someone like Adamek, Arreola or Solis. Someone capable of knocking him out or pushing him on points.
But, Haye doesn't do risk without huge reward. I understand it, I just don't understand his fans.

Normal sky it could be get good viewing figures advertising. It wont end up on channel where about 30,000 viewers will be watching. Guess you didnt like many of the tyson fights by your logic above.

If they put that fight on normal sky sports viewing figures would top 6 million easy..leforge wrote:Normal sky it could be get good viewing figures advertising. 6 million on normal Sky? No way mate, maybe 2-2.5m at the very most. There's only about 10m Sky subscribers and not all of them have the sports package. It'd probably struggle to get 6m on terrestrial to be honest.

Tyson was a young kid whose fights got gradually more difficult to the point he went out on his sheild against Douglas. No comparison between the two.kingfinn wrote:Dont turn this into a Karl Jade v the Haye fans thing, you've posted numerous times and and every time you seem to write junk.Karl Jade wrote:Typical Haye fan - not an ounce of boxing integrity. Unless you're talking about Tyson's somewhat farcical post-prison stint.

lets ignore the fact he fought tomatoe cans for years then lost to douglas who he was supposed to beat.Karl Jade wrote:Tyson was a young kid whose fights got gradually more difficult to the point he went out on his sheild against Douglas. Re: Haye v Vitali...
I was taking into consideration the amount of pubs, clubs and casinos that would show the fight as i think they get an estimated viewing figure per venue as far as im aware. However apparently sky only got 2.8 million for man city v liverpool the other day so it looks like you could be about right.earsjohn wrote:????kingfinn wrote:If they put that fight on normal sky sports viewing figures would top 6 million easy..leforge wrote: Normal sky it could be get good viewing figures advertising. If i were haye id say f**k it and see if channel 5 or another terrestrial channel will have it - he doesnt need the money and its would certainly make him very famous. Of course that will never happen.
Re: Haye v Vitali...
And look who Haye fought in his early 20s, before losing to Carl Thompson.
It's a completely redundant argument, bringing a young Tyson into it.

I cannot fathom how David Haye has any fans left? Absolutely astonishing.
It's a good job so many people on this British forum are so fiercely nationalistic, it lines the Hayemaker's pockets something lovely.

I was on about tysons majority career where he beat almost everyone early in one sided fights. You said you dont find one sided beatings entertaining or a fighter beating someone he was expected to beat entertaining. Im asking if you found tysons career entertaining?Karl Jade wrote:And look who Haye fought in his early 20s, before losing to Carl Thompson.![]()

the same reason the klitschkos are so popular

I did when he fought Holyfield and Lewis. In general, no.kingfinn wrote:I was on about tysons majority career where he beat almost everyone early in one sided fights. I was only 5 when hee went to jail so I couldn't really appreciate that version of Tyson.

You say tysons career was good until douglas (who was a massive underdog) and his career after prison was farcical but then list his most entertaining fights as being holyfield and lewis.
You just say what ever suits you to try and make a point (badly). Hayes fights against barrett, bonin and ruiz - mismatched? quite possibly! Boring? only if you hate boxing.
Re: Haye v Vitali...
Haye will only be remembered as totally forgettable

A totally forgettable unified Cruiserweight and WBA Heavyweight Champion.smcb80 wrote:Haye will only be remembered as totally forgettable
Re: Haye v Vitali...
he was never a hw world champion. not really. in the grand scheme of things, there can only be one champ in each division, and he was soundly beaten by him.

So who's the current Light Welterweight Champ?smcb80 wrote:he was never a hw world champion. not really. in the grand scheme of things, there can only be one champ in each division, and he was soundly beaten by him.
It's a romantic notion that there's one champ per division and one that hasn't existed since the 1960/70's. Accept it. Wlad was the man but Haye won a belt. If you refuse to acknowledge that, then Khan, Froch, Burns, Calzaghe, Hatton, Nas, Benn and Eubank lose any right to call themselves world champions. Which they don't.
Re: Haye v Vitali...
imo Khan is the LWW Champ.
