I had Green up 6-3-1 prior to round 11. I could see 4 rounds to the pole at best and I'm pretty sure it will turn out Green was winning on the scorecards. That said, he looked dead tired from round 8 onwards - red in the face, puffing and bleeding badly from his nose, which was strange, because Green was consistently landing more punches. I reckon his punch resistance is gone and to be honest I wouldn't be confident backing him over Cameron now.

Well first things first- what a great card. Some great scraps. The Tomlinson fight was a cracker- both guys really earned there $. Thought Will was a clear winner but had a few hairy moments but a great leanring fight against a bloke who was pretty damn hard. Will seemed to leave himself open at times and nearly paid for it but even when i thought he was gassing/hurt he came back with nice combos and deserved his win. 3 cuts and all. After seeing Dibs opponent wilter think all the fighters tonight deserved a tip of the hat. No wiltering to be seen. And the bloke who fought John- for farks sake how tough was he. He took some BIG shots. OK he went down once but John got clipped big as well and perhpas may be showing decline??? That said his defensive skills kept him in it and was pleased to see a scorecard reflective of his efforts. John clearly won but the fella he was fighting really gave his all and may be someone to watch in future.

Apologies for lack of name memory but have had 10 pints of pale. The other indonesian fighter showed his worth against a pretty seasoned veteran.

As for the big one- well...hats off to both guys. Danny fought well but once his nose got smashed the tide seemd to turn. He looked tired in the tenth. Atupid me said to the bloke next to me"only takes one shot". I was nervous for Green. Had him up by 4 rounds going in to the last(felt he landed, for the most part, the most significant blows and jabbed well). Big praise to the Pole- gorgeous right followed by a short textbook left hook on the inside.

When i saw Greens right hand stuttering to help him try and regain balance i thought shit this is over. Then he got up..... thought as it was a title the ref COULD of let it go on but in all honesty a fair stoppage. Green was farked.

Now no doubt all the 12 year olds will come out with their usual antiGreen crap but... for me the tale of the tape tells it all. Danny- you are NOT a crusierweight. Your chin and power has not carried. Retire or drop to light heavy. If you do retire then hats off to ya. And your promotions are pund for pund- pretty damn awesome.

Danny was obviously gutted. So close but yet so far. But respect to both fighters. And as for the winner- good on ya mate. Came along way, got outboxed for much of the fight but stuck in there showing great guts and heart and poer that last till the end. He was very humble in victory and i wish him well. Come back anytime champ.

Also good to see much of the crowd(unlike the pub crowd) stay to watch the John fight.

Official cards. I have no clue how one judge managed to give Green the 10th.

The fight was much closer than the commentators made it seem; I saw it at either 97-93 or 96-94 for Green, neither of which reflect a massive gap in scoring. Green boxed very well for the first 3/4 or so, but he doesn't have the engine or resistance to cut it against the top guys in the divsion.

Judges had it 97-93, 97-93 and 96-93 all for Green after 10 rounds. Wlodarczyk needed the knockout.

Wlod would have retained his belt if he won the final round (if there had been one) 10-8.

Good post.

I saw Green when I was in Oz in 2002 - he looked ok then, not amazing, from memory he had a back injury and was going to retire so to hear he's still fighting now is incredible.

I think he has achieved more than he could have ever wished for, but he was always going to loose to the best. If it was the same commentators that was on Green - Jones-Jnr, they hailed him as the second coming - it was laughable :-)

Hugging any Pole for 3 minutes is worth 10 points. I'd want at least 15

First and formost congratulations to Danny Green on a wonderful career in the toughest sport in the world.

To me all boxers are winners.

Now unfortunately the reality as i predicted before this fight

1. Danny Green is a light heavyweight
2. He is 1 dimensional
3. I don't know what they were thinking after a heavy defeat against Tarver to fight nearly 4 months later that decision was so wrong.

Anyway god bless you Danny you have been a gentleman in & out of the ring not like some hopefully you stay in the sport in some capacity.

Another awesome night of boxing put on by GMP.
Unfortunately Danny couldnt stay away from Wlod for another 4 minutes, but thats boxing. He did himself and Australia proud. I hope he calls it a day and gets behind Will and other young fellas in a promoting role.
Great to see a gracious winner and a gracious loser. Well done on a great career Danny, and I hope Wlod goes onto make some serious money against the top guys in the division.
