I like Robertson at 9/1 - he's on form this year and proven over the longer format. Plus Higgins has a minging draw. Matthew Selt to beat Dott at 7/4 looks nice for a short punt - Selt has already beaten Walden, Higgins and Hendry this season and Dott can be a slow starter.SteveDow wrote:I normally do only back team odds on at home but stupidly chased my Man United loss yeaterday which I don't normally do. Thank god for Phil Taylor at the moment as my big wins on him recently have kept me in profit.
John Higgins has to be value at 8/1 for the UK snooker next week and I've had a small bet on that.
Also done a quadruple on Higgins to beat McLeod, Williams to beat Jogia, Ding to beat Mark Davis and O'Sullivan to beat Steve Davis at 6/4 with Stan James. I normally clean up on the early rounds of snooker tournements so hope that continues.

I've also has a couple of very small bet accumulators.
The first is a 7 fold at 9/2 with Boylesports on Higgins, Robertson, Murphy, Ding, Williams, Trump and Allen.
The second is a 13 fold at 30/1 with Boylesports on Higgins, Robertson, Murphy, Ding, Williams, Trump, Dott, Gould, Stevens, Selby, O'Sullivan, Allen and Carter.
I went big on the 4 fold accumulator I flagged up but the 7 and 13 folds are just for interest.

Accusing a man cleared of all match fixing allegations ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_s ... 973869.stm ) on a public forum is riskier.allahsnackbar wrote:betting on a known match fixer is riskySteveDow wrote:Robertson has a good chance but Higgins loves the big events and will be extremely hard to beat.earsjohn wrote: I like Robertson at 9/1 - he's on form this year and proven over the longer format. Sure based on what? He is not a match fixer, he got caught up in a situation and made a fool of himself, but there's no suggestion he fixed anything.
If you reviewed the details of the case, which i am guessing you haven't, you would have more of a clue.

Strongly disagree in this case. I backed him for the UK and World Championships last year at 11/1 and 6/1 respectively and he won me a lump. If there is one player in the world who will give you value for money in betting terms in big events it's John Higgins.allahsnackbar wrote:betting on a known match fixer is riskySteveDow wrote:Robertson has a good chance but Higgins loves the big events and will be extremely hard to beat.earsjohn wrote: I like Robertson at 9/1 - he's on form this year and proven over the longer format. Jesus mate!! Could I just ask why you are so confident in him winning? I don't know much about either fighter but putting that sort of money on a long odds against shot is unusual. Also, the odds difference between a points win and a UD seems way too big given that most points wins are by UD.gmanji wrote:Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket.....

Thanks for pointing that out. It'll be something I'll be looking to take advantage of in the future. Still intrigued by gmanji's confidence in Rose. May have a small punt on it myself as I'll be watching the fight.Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:The odds between Points and UD points win can be ridiculous!SteveDow wrote:Jesus mate!! For example i had £20 on Fury to beat Chisora on points @ 7/2 and was fairly confident that it would be a shut out but i didn't realise that firms like Skybet offer different types of points wins ie UD, MD and SD. Fury to beat Chisora by UD was a staggering 17/2!!! I was gutted to say the least.
It doesn't always work that way but sometimes the different in odds is unbelievable!
Re: Betting thread
Points can be one of three ways, the odds were 25s for UD 14s for SD and 50s for MD. Bizarre odds I know!!SteveDow wrote:Thanks for pointing that out. Ive known Brian years boxed with him for 6 years and know what hes capable of. Average joe wont know much about him as hes only had two fights screened on sky once which he got startched by Max Maxwell. I think Arron will have to KO Brian to beat him, i dont think he will outbox him. Brian is technically a better boxer. They sparred together two years ago and Brian got the better of it apparently. I know its totally different in a ring with 10oz gloves but still.
Basically, i see it as an even fight that Brian is capable of winning. Those odds are ridiculous so i having a right good punt. Saturday night will either be really good or really shit. TEAM ROSE!!

Re: Betting thread
when they sparred, rose definitely got the better of it. i saw an interview with aaron who said, "if he thinks im the same guy he sparred, he is in for a rude awakening etc" so it seems that even Arron himself admits that Rose got the best of him in sparring. i don't know much about rose in terms of what kind of fighter he is. If he is a counter punching boxer type, he might have figured out aaron to some degree already.
Re: Betting thread
Thats exactly it. Arron was complaining about Brians gloves saying he could feel his knuckle through the glove so Bob Shannon went over and checked his gloves and there was nothing wrong with them. They also stopped sparring because Arron got a nosebleed... Brians already one up before they get in the ring. 2 up even because hes the challenger. ;)allahsnackbar wrote:when they sparred, rose definitely got the better of it. i saw an interview with aaron who said, "if he thinks im the same guy he sparred, he is in for a rude awakening etc" so it seems that even Arron himself admits that Rose got the best of him in sparring. i don't know much about rose in terms of what kind of fighter he is. Last good win on boxing i stuck £100 on lee selby at 5/1
I backed Groves vs Degale on points at 11s with £40 when every man and his dog was saying degale would win.

Thanks for the inside info mate. You're clearly taking a huge risk but good luck. I've had over a grand on Phil Taylor to win the World Darts at 5/4 but I view that as a virtual certainty so you definately have balls to be piling in in that way to a fight you view as 50-50, fair play.
I'll probably have a small punt on Rose depending on how my snooker bets go on Saturday.

Re: Betting thread
I wouldnt bet a grand on a 50/50 fight if the odds were evens or less than 2/1. Think its definetly worth a gamble as im confident he can do it and the rewards are mega. Love a good punt on the darts too. I bet against phil taylor last year against mark webster cos he was playing shite. Had £50 at 9/2 ;)
Re: Betting thread
He struggled last year as he had a number of personal problems. He got divorced and his grandson was in intensive care so I think that affected his performance. This year he seems happier and has been in unbelievable form and will be desparate to win that title back. I think he's the best 5/4 shot for a long long time.gmanji wrote:I wouldnt bet a grand on a 50/50 fight if the odds were evens or less than 2/1. No one would put two round predicting odds into an accumulator, it'd be chucking yer money away.

Nope mate. I can't bring myself around to betting on away teams in football. I take it that it came through? Well done.
