Is there any way to change the poll from "Will you be subscribing" to "Have you subscribed"? Would be interested to know how many on here have actually signed up but I don't want to create yet an other BN thread.

I got a response from Allegedly channel:

Hi John,

Thanks for contacting Allegedly channel.

The FAQ information has been available since the website changed to advertise that subscription was possible. The rules regarding multiroom subcriptions have never changed. We have always asked customers to follow our subscription process for all viewing card numbers that you would like activated to Allegedly channel and take out a new subscription for each card.

Cancellations within the minimum term of 6 months are not permitted. Should you wish to cancel after the minimum term, you will need to end your payment agreement through PayWizard. You can cancel at anytime on after 28/04/12.

Thanks
Allegedly channel.

Now as much as I dispute that the FAQ information hasn't changed (it mentioned that it had changed in light of queries received as a result of people having trouble trying to subscribe, so by implication it must have been updated), I am unable to prove it thus I am locked into a contract.

Just thought I'd share for any others who foolishly assume that one subscription would be sufficient to watch within your sky multiroom arrangement.
I wouldnt necessarily have thought you are bound by that contract. If you want out of a standard form consumer contract it is often possible to achieve.

Equally, you could politely ask them to offer you a reduced rate on the second subscription. I'm sure they'll be keen to please subscribers as much as possible as obviously they are in this for the long haul and want to build a happy customer base. :TU:
We'll see where my reply gets me. I don't understand why it should be an issue though - I can currently watch every other sky channel I'm subscribed to through either box.
ive been sitting on the fence previously but i though id probably get it but your issue with multiroom has really complicated it as i sometimes watch boxing in my bedroom as the mrs has her regular crap like casualty to watch but occasionally she sods off to bed early and i get the living room tv , either way having it set to a specific tv would leave me in a fvcked up position as id still miss some fights , if im gonna miss some i may as well miss them all and just find a stream for any i really want to watch .

i hate not paying into boxing as i know the money means better things for the sport if everyone buys into it but i dont at this point think they have made enough effort to gain my tenner , if it was done on a month to month basis id have probably gone for it and its unlikely id have cancelled but my making it a minimum 6 months , by having no multiroom and by having no real publicity for the channel i get the feeling my tenner is one of many that they would get in normal circumstances who are just not too keen on this .

Nah, start another poll mate.

There's one over at ESB at the moment who are more pro-Allegedly Channel than here.

Still, at the moment 55% of those who have posted say they haven't signed up.

Not a good sign. Even all eastside boxrec sign up it's not going to be enough they need casual subscribers! Not enough proper fans!

Will the subscriber figures be available to view at some point? Surely Sky and BN will both know the figure, but will it be released?

Will Sky know the figures? Genuine question as I don't know how these things work, but given that BN subs are taken using Paywizard, therefore completely circumventing Sky's payment processes, will they be able to tell?

I'd guess that we won't get official figures announced unless they are as high or higher than required. If numbers are below requirements, we will hear phrases like "solid subscriber base", "good performance in difficult market conditions", "Online forum dictators spreading vile rumours to diminish our potential audience".

Also, if it does seem to be a success, I expect Sky to show their hand with some kind of threat against FWP for non-fulfillment of their contract.

Good point. I had assumed Sky would know as its booked on the sky card, but I don't actually know whether or not they would. I would assume so, but assumption makes an ass out of me and umption.

Just subscribed on my office box - which work pay for.
Seems a bit extravagant to pay full price for the other box in the lounge - I probably would if multi-room was, (say) half-price.

It's still on in both rooms though - has anyone lost BN yet that had been watching it free ?

Ola,

A proper boxing fan would be concerned with the long term welfare of the sport- so for all the right reasons I'll find another way to watch without supporting something that if successful would jeopardise the prosperity of the sport.

I do hope however that sky recognise that this channel is 50-50 on wether it succeeds or fails, they need to give more attention to boxing.

Adios

Right then, this is starting to get on my TITS!

I've had FOUR goes at registering. I entered my SKY card details and was told there was an error. On the 2nd, 3rd and 4th times my attempts to create a Pay Wizard account failed due to an 'unknown error'. I didn't even get far enough to enter my payment details - perhaps a blessing in disguise. My Pay Wizard account couldn't be created the first time because of an error to my answer to my security question. I entered that my mother's maiden name was 'Wild' but was told I couldn't enter this because the name had to be 'five digits or more'. Seriously???

I then entered another security question relating to my school and filled out the form, AGAIN (twice), only to receive the message 'unknown error' AGAIN. It shouldn't be this hard and I don't have the time and patience to keep trying. Your loss because unless you get diehards like me on board, and quickly, you'll fold.

Looking at the cards, I can't even see BN showing a live fight next Saturday night? A bumper night on Sky as well. Not exactly a great start is it? Unless they are showing the Roy Jones Jr fight :box:

Just looking, doesn't look like it'll have anything on the week after either on Saturday night.

There's no bigger 'fan' on this forum than I.

My dad signed-up because I threatened him (a day's Xmas shopping with my mum or six months with Fwank - he chose Fwank)

The wife will watch it from the upstairs bedroom where she now resides with an endless supply of Quavers and Blue Nun, I've signed-up (obviously), the neighbours have in a deal that involves me feeding their cat while they're on a long weekend in Honiton, and yesterday, on helping an old lady across the road, she offered me £60 as a thank you.

I asked her to keep it, and not give it to charity, but to instead subscribe to Box Ration (rationing boxing from 2011 to ... forever) which she promised to do.

Same here. It`s a nightmare.

The problem (I think) is that you have to have teh same Postcode on the Paywizrd account as on the address the SKY Card is registered to.

However, the postcode on Paywizard has to match that of your credit cards. All my credit cards are registered here in Norway, thus I am screwed as far as I can tell.

Why couldn`t they just do it like Primetime or Premier sports?

I just tried to sign up.

But their website is down:

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Well, I tried :-?

From reading posts here, it seems its a bit shoddy, the way its been done. Doesn't seem that there has been a lot of thought or care put into it.

- Get some IT guys in.
- Sort out payment via Paywizard.
- Account compatibility issues
- Not really much thought about anyone who may try to sub, overseas.
- No HD

Just smells of doing a half arsed 'on the cheap' type of thing here. Much like the security when I used to go to the MEN or EXCEL. Cheap, not so cheerful and definitely unprofessional.

The only good thing is that, jabandmove / boxingchat and Buncey may read some this thread and try to put forward the difficulties some people have had, so that 'fish eyes' can maybe get his finger out of his a*** and spend a few extra quid and do it right.
