Are you a "proper" boxing fan?

So what do I need to become a 'proper boxing' fan?

1.Subscription to Allegedly Channel?
2.Subscription to Boxing News?
3.Subscription to Boxing Monthly?

If so, that's me f**ked on all counts. I guess I'll never be a proper boxing fan. Oh, f**king woe is me. I tried so hard as well.

I am 2 out of 3 waiting for Virgin to call me about the channel!

Ha ha. While the timber I carry could easily see me pass off as Buncey I have a lot more hair and my arms don't flap quite so much. I have no affiliations to anyone or anything to do with the sport, I'm simply an interested observer. I'll have to have a rethink about the tone of my posts if I'm coming across as a Warren sympathiser.

Haha it's all good and if Box Notion had any sense they'd do a tie in with Boxrec forum to answer all questions about their service rather then leave potential buyers confused.

Lost track with that thread by the 2nd page when i was all for Box notion but as mentioned now i have my doubts due to the very low viewing figures they'll be getting which won't help Boxing longterm.

When you look at the figures Amir Khan got on ITV, they were amazing as he got 4million plus on a regular basis for non title fights and that kind of platform is the only way to stop the marginalization of the sport.

The benefit of Box notion though are 2 domestic shows a week and international cards so for a tenner a month it's value for money. Also the fact that SKY have renewed their interest in Boxing by getting the 2 best British boxers in Khan and Froch plus Channel 5 having Fury fights is a plus for Box Notion too as i just wouldn't want to see a time when all Boxing is just aired on Box Notion to a few thousand hardcore fans.

Am toying with the idea of subscribing as I've just has Virgin Media installed but I am put off by the 6 month commitment period as this effectively gives Warren licence to put awful fights on whilst knowing that he has tied people in.

I believe (don't hold me to it) that Virgin customers can sign up on a month to month basis.

This appears to be correct.... I called Virgin Media and added B o x nation to my package and they just advised there was a 30 day cancellation period of notice and no 6 month contract which is fine with me! I think it only applies to Sky customers and all this paywizard shambles.......

I'll check when i get home that its all turned on and working correctly as today was the go live day

Cheers for the info lads. I may well subscribe now for December as there are some good fights lined up although I think the Khan and Froch fights will be on Sky??

Will it even be a few thousand? I used to read Times Online daily before it went behind the pay-wall a couple of years back. I've never missed it. What's more I don't know anyone who does pay for it - other than a few businesses who are in that line of work and 'need' the site for research. Times Online must lose a fortune. Niche businesses can work but not all niche businesses can work, if you know what I mean, Harry.

In my opinion, Buncey is the ultimate conformist. He has this reputation as a bit of a wildcard, with those who know no better, but he's anything but. As I see it, If you're paying him, he'll write whatever you want him to write/say whatever you want him to say. That's why he'll never go short of work; even when television boxing has died - assuming it dies before he does - he'll find another outlet. You'll never go down as a great man with that approach but you'll stay fat, clothed and housed, which is all that really matters.

and yeah Boxing is not a niche sport but rather is becoming one if not already, infact it's proven in the past that when given the platform it pretty much out performs all other sports with the exception of Football but if you kill off the supply then you take away the demand. Even today if Haye vs Klitschko had been aired on 10pm saturday ITV1/BBC1 then they would have got 10million easy which is a big figure by todays standards.

There's better fights lined up on Sky for December. (other then Cotto/Margarito ) So i'l make do with that and then re-access in January/February time.

Khan and Klitschko due to be a double header shown on sky sports on 10th Dec and then Froch is also on Sky the week after

A proper boxing fan would be concerned with the long term welfare of the sport- so for all the right reasons I'll find another way to watch without supporting something that if successful would jeopardise the prosperity of the sport.

I do hope however that sky recognise that this channel is 50-50 on wether it succeeds or fails, they need to give more attention to boxing.
