Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
I had it 118-111 Chisora, even if you could argue that score was too wide, Chisora was robbed tonight, as I knew he would be when it went to the judges

What a rip off. Never fight a man in his hometown. Especially if you're not a big one punch hitter.

Jesus. Ive had a bottle of wine but I think Chisora got robbed there. Helenius looked messy. He landed but showed little workrate.
Stuffy. I didnt even see it as that close.

It's a good point. When is a MMA fight EVER spoilt by stupid scoring.GreedyG wrote:Another bullshit decision. No wonder people are going to MMA.

Great fight. Del boy done him self proud. If the tables were turned and it was an Allegedly card the same thing would happen and the home fighter would win.

I don't think Reid beat up Ottke, it was a close boxing match but anyway...
I think Bunce hit the nail on the head. The ref just intervened every time to break up Chisora's rhythm. It was timed and calculated.

Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
that was an absolute stinker of a decision. Chis won that clearly. how could you find 7 rounds for Helenius?
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Finland is just like Germany, I realised that when I went out to watch Froch in Helsinki, Sauerland are absolute conmen. BUT, I must say I did fill my boots on betfair with this, in Round 9 once I felt that Helenius wasn't gona get KO'd I knew he'd get the decision, the odds were pretty good so I've won a wodge on Helenius wiining! Still gutted for Chisora but you have to accept these things in this sport we love so much, which is a big shame.
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Finland, Germany, whatever...Sauerland is the common demoninator.
Ooh wait Frank's on the phone ...shhhh.

Oh yeah, that was really bad.GreedyG wrote:Sven Ottke vs Robin Reid.john welsh wrote:Iv never seen anyone get beat up and win?
and pac man was as the other guy said
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
To be honest, even though I thought Reid won, I've seen plenty worse than Reid-Ottke. I think it was the performance of the referee Roger Tilleman in the early rounds that coloured the overall picture of the fight.
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
I didn't think it was a 'Robbery' as 115-113 x 3 split decision dosen't indicate that.
Alot of Chisora's punches were also being blocked and Helenius did clearly win that last rd.
Either way Chisora was brilliant and his stock definately went up and Roberts went down.
Helenius would destroy him in a rematch though considering he broke his right hand in the 1st round.

Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Yeha I suppose he fought well considering he busted his hand in the opener. I would be inclined to believe him too because his punches clearly did not have the same snap as his record and previous fights would suggest.
Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Helenius is a honest bloke and i could tell the way he was throwing the right hand after rd 1 that there was definately something wrong with it so not surprised to hear him confirm it.steve689 wrote:Yeha I suppose he fought well considering he busted his hand in the opener. Re: Chirosa v helenius live on ARD Saturday night
Just back from the fight. Chisora exposed Helenius tonight and he got robbed by the judges. Disgraceful scoring. I had Del boy by 4, I spoke to a Finnish reporter who had Chisora by 2 and he said that he had been generous with two of the rounds he gave to Helenius in his scoring.
At the post-fight presser, Helenius said he hurt his hand early in the fight. I thought Francis Warren spoke very well at the post fight presser, and I agree with him - Chisora got robbed and there should be an immediate rematch. Don Charles was furious and said that the scoring is killing boxing. Chisora was very pissed off too and used a little bit of industrial language to emphasis his point.
Also, at the post-fight presser - Huck challenged Povetkin for a shot at his title. Team Povetkin said they would be happy to oblige and Atlas said he would do it next week.
Great crowd tonight, 12,000 people. But they only made noise in the first and final round - that told its own story.
