How could he say Green was WAY ahead on ppoints. Green looked totaly exhausted from rd 8 onwards.

I admit he was a rd or 2 ahead in rd 11 but no way was he a mile ahead.

I think Green has been awesome for aussie boxing so I am not bagging him at all. I think he is 38 and getting old and tried. I hope he hangs up the gloves.

Reckon those card were pretty fair. Some rounds were close but , especially early-mid rounds i felt he was doing enough to win the rounds off the champ. Still- lovely right then textbook "on the button" left hook. Such a short but devastating punch.

i thought wild will's fight was also closer than Barry (and the judges) say it. I thought tomlinson lost four of the first five rounds. Infact he looked better when he boxed who woulda thought

Official cards. I have no clue how one judge managed to give Green the 10th.

The fight was much closer than the commentators made it seem; I saw it at either 97-93 or 96-94 for Green, neither of which reflect a massive gap in scoring. If Green had gotten out of the 11th he would entered the 12th up on the official cards by only two points and one point.

Green boxed very well for the first 3/4 or so, but he doesn't have the engine or resistance to cut it against the top guys in the divsion.

Bazza was even worse in the final fight where he and side-kick Raymond had Chris John winning all twelve rounds, where the Urkranian on my card had won three and all the judges gave him 4 rounds.

Too many sherberts before the fight could be cause, but really Bazza, you were embarrassing in your calls all night. A labrador awaits! Maybe the 12:45am finish was past your bed-time.

Barry's a great bloke, great champion....but always has been a pretty average commentator. Will Briggsy ever be asked back to FOX/Mainevent ??

American matchmaker Don Elbaum came out to Australia to check Michael out as he was considering matching him against Mancini. He saw Barry fight and figured he was too dangerous. This was before Michael went down to Super Featherweight. Barry won the Empire Lightweight title two fights before he won the IBF Super Featherweight title. Most of his career was at lightweight and super lightweight.

Lockridge was Michael's fourth defence of his IBF Super Featherweight title. Barry is in much better health these days than Lockridge.

I'd say the money not being worth it was more the reason rather than than Barry being too dangerous. So Mancini chose Bramble instead Bad move. On the world scene he barely got a mention even as titleholder, except that after the Lockridge fight his head looked like the cartoon character Alfred E Neumann from Mad magazine

I don't see what Lockridge's health in relation to Barry's these days has anything to do with anything. Especially their fight :?? Barry was a fantastic one for keeping the sport in the news in the dark days of the sport due to his mouthing off. He beat Frank Ropis yet lost by TKO to Lennox Blackmore. That about sums him up on the world stage

Al had some involvement with Lester's career around the time he won the title although in what capacity I'm not so sure. He also had a habit of looking for off duty coppers in nightclubs and king hitting them

i agree that barry is a terrible commentater, but there is no doubting his ticker, his chin and his record as a fighter, i had the pleasure to see him fight a yank in the early 80,s. i think it was al carter. it was a great fight, carter was a heavy puncher, michaels stood toe to toe with him,i don,t see anyone here now that would trouble him, hearns is pretty well on the mark with his opinions on vic and danny, and i,m not knocking their heart or their chins,green was beaten end of story, and darchinyan looked terrible and any kid that boxes him will beat him.if that kid had a punch vic would not have seen the distance, the raging bull[sorry Jake]it should be the armenian windmill,i see angelo was there giving him the usual advice.all the best
