so if murray fought macklin ...who wins?

Post by mahatma »

having both gone very close against sturm who would win if these 2 squared off- i think it would be close but see murray stopping macklin late rounds in a similar style fight as when jamie moore beat macklin

Murray for me. I think Macklin might have trouble in the late rounds.

Would be great to see a little tournament between Barker, Macklin, Murray and Lee.

I hope these fights happen and they don't end up fighting each other when they are all shot to pieces, any three fights featuring macklin, barker and murray will be hard to call.

x2 - maybe add Craig McEwan and Paul Smith and have our own British Super 6.

Or maybe drop one of those add Proska and have our "British based" super 6.

Macklin is a much better all-round fighter than Murray. Sturm looked like he has gone backwards since the summer. Anyway, I thought Macklin won and Murray lost.

What? Beacuse Martin proved he was up to the task and belongs at that level, therefore sturm has gone backwards. your talkin shit mate, Sturm said himself he trained harder and wasnt gonna under estimate martin like he did macklin, You could tell from round 2 Sturm was trying to prove a point but martins footwork and skill threw a spanner in the works for him, he probably expected martin to just stand and trade and get knocked out. look at sturms face after macklin there wasnt as much damage as there was after murray.

And how is he a better boxer? id give u better brawler, he hasnt got a jab, jus a head on the chest and swing with anything type of fighter, a lot like John Murray who i actually like, but John murray isnt a smug arrogant tool like macklin.

I think I'd pick Murray, which surprises me. think Macklin's tendency to be a bit too open and to mark up round the eyes would be against him.

I like Macklin, he's an exciting fighter but think Murray would pick him off. He's also alot fresher than Macklin.

Did u actually watch both performances???

Macklin showed more qualities and skill thou Macklin?? :KO: Think you may of bin either drunk or in too many bouts!!
Murray showed a huge amount of skill boxing are ranges, using ringcraft, hands down, tight guard, countering, leading feints, following game plan etc that is only a few examples, this was against a more prepared sturm who admitted he was going to prepare more and not underestimate Murray aswell as starting faster and looking in better shape physically and was razor sharp and more focused.I think he also dne the weight better than vs Macklin as ddnt seem as tired after throwing shots and forcing it!!

After both fights, I still find it really difficult to predict. Still think Macklin is better, but Murray is such a top bloke and trains like a beast so cannot be taken lightly against anyone, especially after the amount he will have learnt from the Sturm fight.

Why are you misquoting me?

I don't think there is any proof that Sturm prepared better for Murray. There was a suggestion put out there (by Murray's team among others) that Sturm was under prepared for Macklin so wouldn't be this time, but that isn't supported by any fact. Indeed it is very possible it is the other way round, especially as Murray was untested, unknown and the second choice opponent.

Anyway, Murray fought well. I got the impression that he only really believed he could win in the second half of the fight. Had he pushed it earlier, he might have won.

I thought the proof would be in the fact that sturm admitted he took macklin lightly? obviously the boxer himself knows how much he puts into training. Sturm knew he owed his fans a stellar display, in his words not mine, so he said himself he trained harder this time round.

couldnt of said it better myself!!

Sturm didn’t rack up so many defences by accident, he is likely to have taken both men seriously but if you’re dropping 20-30 for every fight then you’re likely to regress once you hit your 30s as your metabolism slows and your training is purely about dropping then maintaining weight.

again another good post
