Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
It was good banter for the most part.
Froch makes no apology for who he is and what he is about - but Ward is a bit of a try hard with his scripted answers.
Ward is a nice enough bloke I reckon, just boring as eff.

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Good stuff. You could tell during the credits piece they actually quite like each other..
Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
I think the opposite. Ward got to Froch a bit there, by almost premeditatting what Carl was going to say. Don't believe Froch's game is going to be about the knockout.G0mez wrote:It was good banter for the most part.

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Froch came across as a dickhead as usual, his shtick was kinda funny when he first came on the scene but now it's boring. He was crass and charmless having a dig at wards dead father and it was hilarious what a bullshitter he is about why he got on one knee during verdict against Dirrell. All this plus all the moaning he does about british boxing fans not supporting him enough and threatening to move to America because no one likes him here!dbf wrote:I think the opposite. I'm sure he's got his excuses already lined up for the boxing lesson he's gonna get off Ward.

Thats exactly how i see i panning out,but hoping Froch can prove me&no doubt many others wrong...BIGMARK wrote:IMO they both come across well and very confident, this should be a cracking fight. I see Ward outboxing Froch and winning a wide UD, sadly but I hope I'm wrong

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
This is a fight Froch can win. He just needs to get the tactics right.
For me he needs to draw Ward into a scrap and just pummel him into submission. No point trying to outbox Ward cos it`s unlikely to happen. I believe Froch is the tougher of the two and easily as fit.
He needs to put it on him from teh first bell and go for broke, like he did against Pascal.

I think Ward will win easily and am interested to know what Froch's excuse will be. Froch will get a shock if he tries to rough Ward up, i think it could even be the other way round

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
It is odd how in so many of Carl's fights he starts slow and seems to take a few rounds to get going and yet against Pascal which was probably the fight where he would be most nervous (first World title fight) he marches straight across the ring and puts it on Pascal backing him onto the ropes and unloading shots.forcefraser wrote:This is a fight Froch can win. Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
I saw Ward interviewed by Jane Couch back at the press day a few months ago and he seemed a bit of a grump who didn't look overly confident. Still, I reckon he could be forgiven for being a bit confused on that particular occasion!
It's gonna be a close one, no doubt about it. Froch by SD. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them do it again as I think it'll be a cracking fight.

indeed, the Lancs vernacular alone would probably throw most septics out a bit.

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
I have just watched as well and this a great another great 50/50 fight where you can genuinally make strong cases for both Andre Ward and Carl Froch. Ward has got the skills, but Froch has got the power, balls and the temperment of a champion he is physically bigger and stronger than Ward and I think Ward will struggle to keep Froch off him because Froch will look to drag Ward into a firefight and possibly drop him at least once and maybe even stop him because he has that power which Ward has not got . Okay Froch did not stop Glencoffe Johnson in his last fight, but Johnson has been in with some of the best 175lbs fighters in the business of the last 10 years. As for the Abraham fights for both of them. Abraham had some success against Ward in the early stages but Abraham had none against Froch at all because Froch kept Abraham at the end of his jab
Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
I enjoyed that, both came across well. I hope Froch has learnt some lessons from the Dirrell fight
It's gonna be a cracker

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Enjoyed that! Think Ward just edged the verbals. Clearly the only thing he's scared about with Froch is the handshake
I think that if Ward keeps his distance and boxes, Froch will have all opportunity of winning taken away from him!

Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Good point. We all know that Froch will give 110%, not back down and fight at high octane for the full 12 rounds. Will Ward be used to that and will he be able to handle it?IRLangmaid25 wrote:I have just watched as well and this a great another great 50/50 fight where you can genuinally make strong cases for both Andre Ward and Carl Froch. Enjoyed that.
Though Froch started off a bit of a dick but then he eased and it became a good watch.
Froch is 100% that Ward can't knock him out and I think deep down Ward probably agrees with him. Will be interesting if this is Froch's mindset if he will just try and walk through and bully Ward.
Looking forward to it.

i agree that this is Froch's mindset, but i think he needs to be careful. if he walks forward willynilly with the intention of walking through Ward, and gets tagged plenty on the way in, Ward could end up building an unassailable lead on the cards.CB wrote: Froch is 100% that Ward can't knock him out and I think deep down Ward probably agrees with him. i wouldn't want him to fight the kind of fight where he needs the stoppage, to win, and sometimes that kind of attitude can put fighters in that position.

Carl froch is genuinely one of the most humble and sound guys I've ever met in boxing or otherwise ...... Sincerely

It's an intriguing match up. I absolutely love Carls mentality but the mindgames haven't really worked with Ward there, Andre doesn't want a part of it and he won't want any part of the toe to toe war that Froch tries to engage him in when the bell goes. I still believe Froch can impose his will to win on Ward by suffocating his boxing and using his strength and stamina to bully and outwork him. I am guilty of predicting this a little more from the heart than the head though.

I dont agree with those who think Froch could bully Ward. I also think people are overating Carl's power. His only inside the distance win in recent years was against an arguably shot Taylor and then he had to wait until he gassed.

possibly, mate, but i think the real question is Froch's power in relation to Ward's chin, which is still untested. given the way he fights i don't think Ward himself is all that confident in his beard.mickey1975 wrote:I dont agree with those who think Froch could bully Ward. Going to be a good fight this one. I see it being a distance fight. Both are tough.Ward can firght dirty and clean and Froch, a bit like Holyfield, beleives he can win right until the end. An intriguing match up.

I don't Froch his the in-ring intelligence to land the way he needs to, unfortunately.Counter-puncher wrote:possibly, mate, but i think the real question is Froch's power in relation to Ward's chin, which is still untested. given the way he fights i don't think Ward himself is all that confident in his beard.mickey1975 wrote:I dont agree with those who think Froch could bully Ward. I'm not sure Froch is bigger and stronger than Ward. Edison Miranda is huge and he wasn't able to boss Ward about at all.IRLangmaid25 wrote:I have just watched as well and this a great another great 50/50 fight where you can genuinally make strong cases for both Andre Ward and Carl Froch. Re: Froch - Ward STAREDOWN
Ward reminds me a little of Cotto (maybe that's just me, have only seen him fight a couple of times). I reckon Froch out to look to use his reach, lot's of straight punches and try to be the busier. If he gets his distancing right I reckon he can control him behind the jab.
