What will be Sicknote and Allegedly's excuses for the fight not happening.

Jesus, when Lacy put those combinations of speed and power together he nearly tore Reid's head off.

Something along those lines, or possibly even going on to mention how scrappy the Lacy/Reid fight was and that Reid could have continued and wanted to.

After yesterdays fight I think there is know much more chance of a Calzaghe vs Reid rematch that a Calzaghe vs Lacy fight.

Hope I am wrong though.

I think after Reids poor performance last night Calzaghe will be happy to fight Lacy as he will get more credit when he knocks him out.

I think Lacy V Calzaghe will be a tearup regardless, Calzaghe is on the wane i think we are all agreed about that and with Lacy on the way up this could be a Calzaghe V Eubank type of crossroads fight. Lacy is very strong and fast and has youth on his side while Calzaghe would match him for workrate but has looked a lot more open recently having been dropped by Mitchell and the average Salem. Calzaghe throws a lot of punches and so it appears does Lacy, it's the natural fight to happen in this division and it is down to Calzaghe to prove he still rules the division he so often tells us he has "reigned supreme" in for so long.

Some people on here keep saying this wont happen, but apparently it has been agreed to take place in Wales on Nov 5th.

Don't mean to diminish your post or anything but we've heard a lot of "apparently agreed"'s over the years where Joe Calzaghe is concerned.

Lacy had NOTHING to beat in Reid, who was about the worst prepared British fighter in a world title fight.

His preparation and the way his trip was handled was nothing short of appalling and unprofessional. His handlers have some questions to answer in my opinion.

Could you imagine Calzaghe ever being that as poorly prepared as Reid was for Lacy? Never.

Say one thing about Warren, he always gets the best for his fighters.

No sparring for 3 weeks, and training by the poolside. For Fucks sake, I know 3 fight novice amatuers who would be better prepared.

What was Jess Harding and Brian Hughes doing out there?

I really think Lacy will beat Calzaghe.

Thats if the fight happens, I really dont see it going ahead.

Well I thought the snarling Reid looked great, up until the opening bell rang that is.

Yes the ref was doing him no favours, but what did he expect with all the fouls and clinching going on in the other guy's backyard? He showed his heart in the end though, and I'm glad for his sake he did. Maybe a few more domestic paydays then off into the sunset.

Calzaghe/Lacy is looking a good one - I think it'll happen - Warren and Calzaghe know it's getting late....

Any talk of Joe not having the heart to take on the American is bullshit - just check round two of the Mitchell fight if you're wondering about the Welshman's heart.

I'm not 100% about the Lacy chin either - I think Joe might find him out there - he seemed to freeze for a fraction of a second when Reid caught him. Trouble is, I thought Joe looked a bit jaded last time out - his legs are gonna have to be there 100% to beat this young puncher.

But I reckon he can do it - it'll be a war but Joe holds all the aces.

Lacy looked alright in spurts but he'll only ever go down as an average champion in time. He'll have a very tough night with Calzaghe, who is way above Reid at this stage.

Calzaghe has pissed a lot of people off but if this unification battle is made I'd like to think we'd all get right behind him. There were a lot of cocky yanks on the Lacy bandwagon on saturday night and I want to see the tables turned.

From what I gathered, Reid refused to spar in an american Gym, and Jim Watt alluded to the fact that Reid pretty much as he wished in the gym. I don't know how true that is, but if you compare Reid's physique now to the hugely muscular frame he had four-five years ago, it would seem he's not training as hard as he once was.

Reid looked awful in there, but I did feel a little sorry for him gettng that first knockdown.

I don't think he was badly hurt during the fight, but he was definetly shaken by that last uppercut. The sheer force of the blows was half forcing him down, but Reid also seemed to be looking for respite.

Calzaghe will have his hands full with Lacy for sure, he hasn't faced anyone decent for quite a while now and Lacy is relentless.

Trying to see it from the point of view of the Americans, I reckon Reid would have come across as a bit unstable what with his behaviour, lacking in professionalism. Dare I say it he almost reminded me of Nardiello at times which is a shame.

Well lets see if the fight goes ahead, it may get scheduled but Sicknote's arse will go before the fight as it did with the twice cancelled Johnson fight.

I cant see why everyone is so confident it will happen - Sicknote and Allegedly have done all they can to avoid fighting the best guys in the division I dont see how that is going to change now Lacy has walked right through Reid and given him a right battering.

You might be right Nick but there's no denying that Lacy is neither impossible to hit nor impossible to hurt, and his footwork is never going to pose too many problems. I think Calzaghe will fancy it.

I think there's more chance of Sicknote fighting a rematch with Reid now than fighting Lacy - 'just to prove he can KO him quicker than Lacy'.

He has ALWAYS gone for the easy options and he's going to fight a huge puncher like Lacy who has just demolished Reid who had never been floored previously? Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

Calzaghe is past his best, and he's no Willie Pep in the old defence stakes himself - in fact his style of standing in the pocket flailing is tailormade for a big banger like Lacy IMO.

Lacy will stop him if it happens.

i dont think you can be anything but impressed with the speed and firepower lacy showed in there, KDing a man wh has an iron cast jaw numerous times and stopping him for the first time.

dont think enough credit is being given here, you cant train chins

despite Reid obviously being over the hill and haivng lacklustre preperation it was still an excellent performance by Lacy.

looking forward to JC vs JL.

for my money, Calzaghe will get beat unless he is at the top of his game

This Calzaghe shit is getting OLD, his title reign has been an absolute joke and he hasnt fought a unification fight in 8 years - now he's going to fight a guy who just looked like the biggest puncher in the division in a long time.

I find the whole idea that it will happen totally laughable to be honest.

I'll be supporting Lacy if it happens, and I'm Welsh and very patriotic.

I used to root for Sicknote but he's fucked every boxing fan about with his pullouts, shit matches and refusal to chase unifications. And the shit he comes out with is a joke "They can't take my poooooooooower" he's not even that big a puncher IMO. Above average power but Lacy whacks a lot harder than him.

Calzaghe may have been able to stop the Reid who turned up on saturday by sheer volume of punches but I truly doubt he'd have dropped him four times and shallacked him as much as Lacy did.
