As in Lightweight Ben Murphy with an 8 win, 4 loss record??
I'd presume so. He is a 5ft 3 lightweight so weight won't be an issue. Not much a promoter can do at such short notice. At least Murphy is coming off a half decent win, albeit at 135.

Surely someone who campaigns at the correct weight though wouldn't be too much to ask..... i'm sure most of the Light Welters who haven't recently fought would jump at the chance to fight for the British title.... :box:
Yeah, but I suppose there aren't many light-welters who actually walk around at the weight and with only 3 days notice it would be a lot to ask.

Its clearly not ideal, Ben being a lightweight at best really but to be fair there is not a lot FTM can do at such short notice, at least they have kept it as a title fight
and its been approved by the board so there is nowt wrong with that I guess.

Murphy will have a go and Theophane can take a while to get going, could be a good 4 rounds or so before Theophane starts to get the upper hand.

Can FTM confirm if both fights are live on Sky or are they recording one and just showing it after the other one, be useful to know for definite
as otherwise its bound to be posted.

We are very sorry about this but it was not under our control and the safety of boxers must come first. There must be no one more disappointed than Nigel who had been training for weeks for this fight. We have work very hard to find a replacement for Nigel and it was offer to nearly every Lightwelter in the country before we started looking at anyone else. Knowing Ben Murphy he will put up a good fight and be in there with the view to winning I still believe this card will be a great card there is some good undercard fight's on as well as the flyweight title which last time was a very good fight between these 2. All we can say to you the boxing public is sorry but we have done our best to keep the card on and still be good value for the paying fan's and sky sports veiwers.

Nothing to apologise for really, Its hardly your fault what happened with Nigel and my thoughts are with him more than worrying about the fight you have got now. As I said above its about the best you could do, it had to be a lightweight, no light welter would be on weight unless they were already training for a fight therefore a lightweight was your only option I reckon.

Just asking again though are both fights live or have Sky not decided yet?

Considering wev had sky pull out of shows lately and had no boxing at all i say well done for keeping it on TV just up to ben now to pull off a rocky story.

Yes we did as said we call all light welter weights and had to laugh at some of the things we heard back, So do not believe is us promotors who do not want to make fights happen. I understand it was short notice but if you are a pro you should be in the gym or near your weight. Footballers get call up to the first team at short notice and thats because they train everyday even when not in the first team. My be boxers and trainers have to look at there self's

Curtis got the call yes, but the reason he couldn't take it was a genuine one. - his hand came up like a balloon after the fight and he can't go into a fight with someone like Theophane with one hand.
His weight was fine, would have made the weight in the three days required but fact is i would not put a boxer who has come a long way to gain respect, into a fight with a class fighter like Theophane one handed.

I think although it's disappointing about the Wright pull out,we've got to understand it's more realistic with the notice that a lightweight coming up in weight is going to be easier to find than a genuine LW that's going to make 10st in three days and still be strong.

As for Wright, as has been said before, it's far more disappointing for him, it's his career and his health at stake.

Murphy will come to give it a real go and let his hands go, i don't expect him to win it, but he'll try his best.

The Edwards and Shinny fight will be a little tear up. Too tough lads that love to battle!

Does anyone know how the bill is going to pan out, if Sky are coming on air now at 2300 uk time, then surely they can't keep the main two fights on this card until that time, how are people going to get home, wont be much if any public transport at 0100 if they both went long. Assuming the sky card will be pre-recorded, can anyone shed any light on it. I have a couple of mates going and they seem to think the show is over by 11pm and are planning to get last train home, now they are not sure of going if its 0100 as they will be stuck up at peterlee.

Can Frank shed some light please for the paying fans as its going to leave it tough to find out on the night and be stuck up there?
