Man - he had a ton of guts - his world title challenge to Vitali Klitsckho was equal in pure bravery and guts to Don Cockell's challenge to Rocky Marciano - he had a great career, one to be proud of.

I don't think there is a fighter who can spark so many different memories as Danny. THe highs and the lows. Some vivid ones.

Its amazing, for the Mark Potter moment, the Mike Tyson moment (which won me some nice cash), the Klitchsko bravery, flooring Audley for the first time, and the lows performances (rematch with Audley, Chisora, McDermott struggle). My most vivid Danny moment was when he fought Samil Sam and just lost his bottle. He was brave as always, but he came into the first round believing he was going win, left the opening round knowing he was going to lose (and Sam knew this).

I always think that is was Sanil Samil Sam ( Think i spelt it right ) who chopped Danny's career down the middle, because after that defeat he was never the same fighter. Had same good domestic fights, beat a completely shot and deflated Tyson and managed to get that title shot against Klitschko, where he was up and down more than Abi Titmuss' knickers !! But overall Danny had a good career and most of all he was thoroughly decent and likeable person.

I know he retired after Chisora but i guess like every boxer they convince themselves they may still have something left so in a way it's actually good that he came back and got it out of his system once and for all and i doubt he'll be back now. Probably best thing is that he gets really fat and becomes a bodygaurd to no mark celebrities.

Anyway good luck to Danny, probably my favourite British boxer of the 2000s, always made sure to watch his fights as something worth watching always went down. Great domestic boxer and lovely man so the best of luck to him what ever he ends up doing.

danny was a fornicating warrior. it gets mentioned a lot but his win against potter with 1 arm is something i show my non boxing nut mates and watch their faces as they show a look of awe when he ko's him

Whatever demons he had early in his fighting career about his abilities the guy showed immense bravery and heart in his fights with Tyson, Potter and Klitschko. He did have the potential to get to the top and I alwsys wished he had believed in himself more during his early career.

Remember watching him in a bout in Belfast were he did nothing for a few rounds but when he decided to go for it he was frightening to watch!

He give us some great nights and was always entertaining. My best wishes to him in his retirement.

I've always enjoyed Williams' interviews as well as his fights. Always struck me as one of the more honest boxers out there.

I'm sure he has plenty of regrets though. We always used to hear about how good he was in training and as a fighter and he rarely managed to get his weight right in the second half of his career. In shape, he was pretty well rounded with no obvious weaknesses when on form. If he had been suffering from shingles in the lead up to the Sam fight then it explains his performance and is maybe one of the things he is hinting at in the interview when he talks about taking fights no matter what. Even so, that was the best we had seen from Sam, but I'd still like to think a Williams in top form, weighing below 240, would have had his number.

Hopefully this has been like when you break up with a girl, get back with them for a couple of months just to confirm there is nothing left, and that we won't see Danny in a ring again
