If Tutaki Express pulls out, I recommend Hiriwa Te Rangi :P

How did either of them get a shot at this title. A complete novice over someone that's lost 4 out of his last 5.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
NZ had recently adopted PABA policy i.e. "Who gives a fark who fights who?" title fight is a title fightRoars Like Me wrote:How did either of them get a shot at this title. A complete novice over someone that's lost 4 out of his last 5.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
Perhaps the Kiwis want to see if Williams can take Tutaki out in less time than it took Hopoate.
Who knows? Tutaki may be "focused" this time and survive past round 2.

Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
For some cruel reason boxing can be made a joke of in this part of the world and everyone around the money tree, so long as "they" make money will be allowed to make a mockery of the sport. Hmm mm
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
It's not a bad fight for his 5th fight. I hope Tutaki trains though, he was in terrible shape against Tilman and was blowing early.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
The "Tutaki Express" is looking like a "Puffing Billy" these days
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
does it ever occur to you that these fights are all tailor made and made to suit- just short of being fixedyid14 wrote:It's not a bad fight for his 5th fight. I hope Tutaki trains though, he was in terrible shape against Tilman and was blowing early.

This fight reminds me of when Alex Ahtong ranked 301 fought Stevie Maxwell ranked 204 for the IBF Australasian Welterweight Title.Rogue wrote:does it ever occur to you that these fights are all tailor made and made to suit- just short of being fixedyid14 wrote:It's not a bad fight for his 5th fight. Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
I agree with yid. This aint a bad fight for his 5th ever fight. Am I correct in saying SBW has had no amateur career?Rogue wrote:does it ever occur to you that these fights are all tailor made and made to suit- just short of being fixedyid14 wrote:It's not a bad fight for his 5th fight. A motivated Tutaki could prove challenging. Lets face it Tutaki is 6'3 and a true heavyweight with 40plus boxing fights and also fought kickboxing. To me I will find this interesting as I dont rate SBW's boxing ability. A good match up IMO
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
With Dunny Bill being aligned to Boxa Promotions, it will become a pay-for-view for sure, using Boxa's promoting maxim: never give a sucker an even break!

Both guys aren't mugs though mate, i actually will watch both guys fight anytime, have you seen them fight?
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
Tutaki once beat King Kava. Must have been an eating contest.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
Apologies the Klitschko brothers were unavailable Feb 8th so had to go with Tutaki! Some people you could give a million bucks to and they'd still find something to moan about.
SBW has had 4 fights no amateur background nothing. Tutaki over 10x3min for his 5th fight is not bad at all........
Now im not knocking these guys I respect them all but for example these guys below all had solid amateur careers..........
Shane Cameron 5th Pro Fight = Shane Norford 6-13
Danny Green 5th Pro Fight = Heath Stenton 7-14-1
David Tua 5th pro fight = Alfredo Nevarez
Just to name a few

Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
But why is it for the Title???
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
Probably because it's vacant.Marlin wrote:But why is it for the Title???
When Kirby fought Edwards for the vacant Aussie title they had 15 fights in total between them. Were they rated 1 and 2 heavies in AUSTRALIA???????
both kiwis are rated in the top ten of their countrys ratings so what's the problem.
Could it be that SBW( or Dunny as most refer to him) has a friend and manager who are hated by most.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
Mate there are Thousands, Will Tomlinsons fifth fight opponent was 0 and 2. Dibs tenth opponent was 0 and 1. At least Williams fifth opponent has won at least one fight.N2 Shape wrote:Apologies the Klitschko brothers were unavailable Feb 8th so had to go with Tutaki! Stay tuned N2Shape, You should soon get a reply from some doughhead asking " Why are you comparing SBW to Danny Green and Tuaman".

Who last held the NZ title? Didn't Welliver win it last year?

Chauncy holds the NZNBF Heavy Title.
Cameron Held the NZPBA Heavy Title which he relinquished.
See........ clear as mud.
Re: Sonny Bill fighting for NZ Heavy weight title
No worries about the fight, it's nothing new- reality is if SBW fights a Grizzly bear it will sell well and punters are easily fooled to pay for such spectacles.... what's really making a mockery of this is the "Belt"..... in reality will this "belt" add to PPV sales or table sales.... it doesn't matter who or what SBW fights he will still get the sales- good on him and he deserves the right to make $$$ from his brand but what most purists will have an issue with: is the whole idea of title fights where the other man is coming off a loss and drags the credibility of pro boxing right through the mud. Cash for titles whatever or whoever it may be tailored for needs to stop....
