Fury vs Fields for March 2012?

Post by magnus »

Just seen the "offical Tyson Fury" Facebook page which says he is looking at fighting Tye Fields in March. I think he should be aiming higher (excuse the pun) but it could be hellishly entertaining..

If true then quality of his opposition has definitely plateaued since he fought Chisora. But even so they better work on Tyson's defence because if nothing else Fields can certainly punch.

It's a perfect fight for Channel 5 to be fair, and a perfect fight to get the non-boxing fan tuning in again and jumping on the Fury bandwagon.

He's 6 foot 9, got an high ko %age, he's a yank, and they can plug it as two giants colliding. It won't be good boxing, but it will definitely prove entertaining for the casual follower, albeit more of a freak show and circus act rather than a boxing match.

Tell you what, go onto Facebook and look up Tyson Fury "Official". I'm not making anything up and I'm not saying the match has been made. Fury's mentioned it himself.

I actually love this fight, two big MF's who can punch and have dodgy chins so will be a wild brawl for as long as it lasts and should do great viewing figures for Channel 5 as well if they build the fight up in the media. Following the career of Tye Fields has been my guilty pleasure over the years and you can't but help like the big lug

Also Fields isn't as bad as people think, he'll never be able to compete against the Top 30 but outside of that he has some good results against the likes of Nicolai Firtha, Michael Sprott, Konstantin Airich, Raymond Olubowale, Maurice Harris, Bruce Seldon and Sherman Williams so he's far from a bum and even though he'll have probably got knocked out anyway but i think his loss to Mike Perez was as much down to him being knackered then anything else.

Maybe he looking to runaway from meeting Big Price as he will be ready for this fight in March as long as he beats Big Bad John on Jan 21 or a 3rd rematch with Big John.

How come you never call out Derek Chisora to fight Price, a guy who Fury soundly beat.

Why not make a fight between Chisora and Price in March if he dosen't get the fight with Vitali Klitshko and then the winner would fight Fury.

Could Price really fight twice in two months? March 2013 maybe?

Yeah it's a real Tye Fields picture, the guy has a huge physique but this is when he was really ripped and let's just say it wasn't down to his training methods but certain supplements he was taking.

If price beats McDermott he is mandatory challenger for the British strap (FACT) all the talk of let him fight chisora first is rubbish the simple fact is that Fury will have to fight price or McDermott to keep the British title.

I do remember Fury saying he wants to keep the British belt out right. That means 3 defences as of yet he hasn't had one defence of the Lonsdale belt. so surely if he keeps to his word and try’s to defend the belt he must meet Price or Big John

I have really been won around by Fury and have respect for the way he has been keeping so busy but if this fight doesn’t happen I for one will step right off the Fury bandwagon :shame: if it does happen and fury beats price (or McDermott again ) I will be one of his biggest advocates

Sounds like someone is scared to match their man against Chisora which is ironic. Fury has gone way above Price and dosen't need him any more and the fight won't happen unless Price beats Chisora and a few others first.

Way above Price? Since Chisora he has struggled to beat Firtha and Pajkic and people are linking him to fight Towers or Fields in his next fight.

I like Fury and the fact that he is so active, but lets not pretend that he has already moved to a level where he can forget about the likes of Price

And if Fields KOs Fury?? What would happen? I think Chisora is better boxer than Fury, if Chisora is in shape, he wins 9 of each 10 fights with Tyson (the other one is the defeat he got in July).

It would be an entertaining basic brawl and good for TV. No more than that. Any boxing on Terrestial TV is good for the sport, though surely Mick H might be looking at aiming a little higher?

Why doesn't Tyson Fury engage in all of his fights in a tent in a travelling freak show? Surely that would be more apt.

I hope Fields plants one on him. As slow and leaden as he is, the man can HIT.

I hope Price does a number on John McDermott. I have no interest in Price whatsoever but his amateur victories over Fury plus handling the fat donut in a superior, more clinical style will make Fury's wild claims of being the best/ducking live opponents all the more hilarious.

Fair point Clinton - I wasn't aware of the disparity in experience.

That being said, Price looks to be the live young body in the division and Fury should be fighting him, not these ridiculous opponents. I don't see how Tye Fields can prepare him for the world stage.
