Western Alliance 6

Post by amwsnw »

Another good night of boxing put on by CDL last night, culminating in the main event between Dawson and Kalakoda.
Great win for Dawson in another very tough, close fight.
LuKe Sharp looked great and Lucas Brown was poorly matched and won by KO.
Andy Green was disappointing, but it was understandable after such a lay off and in with an opponent such as Mumtaz. It wasnt Greens victory that disappointed me just the way he went about it and I thought he was lucky not be penalised a couple of points for throwing Mumtaz to the ground.
I have noticed on another forum there seems to be some debate over the scoring of the main event but I thought it was spot on.
I had Dawson up 7 -3 at the end of 10, but i admit it could have been 6-4. Virgil took the last two so 115-113 or 114-114 , IMO, is accurate. Final score were 116-112, 115-113, 114-114. Dawson boxed well, making Virgil miss often and fought well off the ropes. He did seem to tire again, which is a concern and considering the body shots Dawson landed, he seems to be lacking power as Virgil just kept coming.
Trout and Mundine were mentioned after the bout. I hope Dawson can get one good pay day. As big a fan of his that I am I think this is the level he is at at this stage of his career and a bout with Choc or Trout would just be a pay day.

Capper was too big and just relentless. Seemed to be a big size advantage going to capper who has plenty of room for improvement but was too good.

It was a great night of boxing,
Some good fights and an absolute war in the main event.
Dawson did enough early to hold off the fast finishing Kalakoda.
Andy Green had a tough come back fight after his long lay off, Kashif must be the most akward and frustrating fighter to fight. His tactics of holding wrestling etc made it a tough night for Green.

Luke Sharp looked impressive in his fight, Showed a lot more patience in this fight. his first 2 fights he was to eager to stop his opponents when he hurt them. This time he took his time and set up his punches well.

Capper was to strong for maxwell, Maxwell was game and never stopped trying he just didnt have the power to hold Capper off.
Big Lucas Browne had a rather easy KO win, Alapate stepped in on 2 days notice after continuel pull outs leading up to the fight.

Mate I dont post on other forums. The reason being is I find most too negative. I appreciate there are times for people to be negative towards fights or fighters, refs, judges etc and I have been in the past but other "major" forums just seem to be all about bagging the sport rather than supporting it.But forums are for opinions so...
Amwsnw stands for my initals, when I first posted I needed soemthing I would remember after a couple of corona's and thats the best I came up with...piss weak I know !!

Thanks for the info on the Capper VS Maxwell fight Ben K

Maxwell is tough and game will have him fighting at his proper weight of welter/light-middle and he'll be a good tough guy to add to the mix
