Murphy did very well! Was cheering him on fellow Hove resident but like Theophane a fellow yid his class just showed in the end. Murphy can come again he proved himself in the time.Old bones Ian wrote:I think it was just about right, he had nothing left and knew it. Ben can walk away from that with a lot pride. Fought his heart out after taking the fight at v short notice. Now going to push to get him made mandatory @lightweight.

I saw Murphy bang someone out on an undercard at the Aston Events Centre, god about 4 years ago. didn't think at the time he'd make it this far, fair play to him.

Great effort by Ben...
He was a school mate of mine many years ago - had no idea he was a pro boxer now, having missed some of the Prizefighter cards he was on.
He's gonna have a few more fans at his next bout!

Good call.Londonirish wrote: I think Ben will do a lot better then must think, Ashley ain't the biggest puncher and likes fighting at a slow pace, ben will push him back and right his face..... Should be a good fight.
It is easy with hindsight .... but Murphy loaded up on every shot he threw and eventually punched himself out.
His corner kept telling him "tip tap" punches, to keep Theophane occupied so that he doesn't throw back, but would have also conserved his own energy.
Just 5 minutes from being British champion - proper gutter that.
Ironically, Theophane could benefit from the fight. As the commentators said, the top level fighters will be encouraged by that performance and he might get a chance of his own in the near future ?

A terrific performance form Ben Murphy. I can't give the guy enough credit for his effort and attitude.
I'm sure Theophane will raise his game enough next time to beat who's in front of him. I can't think of too many who will have the beating of him at British title level.
