My scorecard is absolutely identical to the first 2, every single round.

I know it has no impact on result but when they announced Nelson Vazquez' card did they not say he had it 114-111?

That is the master card so it was probably just an error made by the person copying each judge's actual card.

Ok. Only fair Peterson offers Khan a rematch over here. Talk of Mayweather silly and back to drawing board. Sounds like his lack of infighting ability cost him. This had banana skin written .all over it. Thought Peterson looked infantastic shape at the weigh in

I don't have too much of a problem with the decision; if we accept that the judges can only score what the referee hands to them then all three scores were within acceptable range - myself, I had it 7-5 to Khan in rounds, so with the deductions 113-112.

But you're quite right, the main issue was the refereeing. The missed knockdown in the first round was a poor call, and I thought that the second point deducted was spiteful; there was nothing to the incident whatsoever. What was most worrying though was the way Khan was repeatedly ticked off for "pushing", but Peterson was allowed free reign to burrow in with his head, dipping so low that Khan had little possibility of getting his shots off or even to defend himself at times. I would have thought that warnings and deductions were at least as valid there...

Ultimately the ref not awarding the first knockdown, cost Khan the fight. Also I am very surprised a champion fighting on his own show gets penalised, but hey I suppose he is not fighting in Britain now!
A rematch is a natural here. I don't think this fight has hurt Khan too much, he has already established his name and is still in the big fight mix.
Looking at their faces Peterson was the one bashed up.

Great fight, but Khan has the right to feel aggreived. He would have got a draw if they had called the first knockdown (which it was)

Peterson looked the heavier handed from round 3 onwards, when the suprise of Khan`s speed wore off. Khan was hit far too often and his defence on the ropes was terrible. He shipped far too many punches. He needs to learn to fight on the inside, as he showed nothing in that department last night.

When a guy comes rushing in, Khan`s only tacticis to push him off, which he was warned for an ultimately lost 2 points because of it.

Khan`s power in the later rounds does not seem to be there. he has no real one punch power.

Khan has great heart and his chin is certainly not made of glass like some people claim, but he should be dealing with Peterson if he wants to be up in the world pound 4 pound elite.

Peterson was the aggressor for most of the fight and no way was it a robbery. The points deductions were fine for me, but the first knockdown was missed, so I would have called it a draw.

On that display the likes of Mayweather would handle Khan with ease. Bradley handled Peterson relatively easily let`s not forget.

I bet Bradley is kicking himself right now :OhYes:

Until Khan learns some inside fighting skills he's going to come up short against resilient opponents that can close the distance effectively like Peterson. I'm waiting for the replay on Sky before I make a real assessment, but surely it's not that hard to teach someone to stand their ground and catch a man coming in with an uppercut.

He's utterly inept on the inside, up there with Stephen Smith in the weakest inside fighter stakes.

Referees over here are more likely to call break and do it sooner, American refs will let the fighters fight.

Wow I just watched the fight and although Khan didn't box like himself he should have won that fight, That's a pretty shitty decision.

"We want a rematch, maybe in [Las] Vegas on 31 March," Shah Khan told BBC's Sportsweek.

Khan's team also have announced they will formally question the performance of Cooper as well as "certain ambiguities" in the judges' scoring.
Interesting that they're questioning the scoring. Most on here seem fairly happy with them

I had Khan by one point with the deductions, but no complaints really.

Khan blew it with all the leaning, little shoves pulling down etc. The ref was onto him for anything so Khan should have cut it out. At one point Khan punched twice and got warned for pushing!

The most alarming for me was Khan's lack of authority in his punches, that's how you stop a man bulldozing you but they were fast peppering shots.

First Maidana now Peterson both suceeded getting onto Khans chest and firing.

Khan ate some ridiculous shots...

What's Khan and Roach playing at in the gym!!

Even with the two deductions i had Khan ahead.

The referee was diabolical, since when was it against the rules to tie someone up on the inside? Even more so when that someone is comming in low and pressing you up against the ropes. There's a big difference between tying someone up and blatant holding. Everything the ref did played into Peterson's favour. He also missed Peterson landing a clear low blow. Shameful refeering!

Hopefully there will be an immediate rematch. Khan really should win it, but he's going to have to learn to box under pressure better. He was well out of his comfort zone in this fight, his constant back peddelling to find space was picked up on by Peterson early on as a sign of weakness and exploited as such. He's going to have to use his jab more and keep the fight off the ropes.

Peterson was able to punch himself out of the clinch, there's nothing in the rules about not doing that either.

His lack of inside fighting ability cost him badly last night, as did his lack of ring IQ.

Being pedantic: isn't it a "10-point MUST" system because one fighter must score ten points in every round?

Surely the 9-9 rounds should be 10-10.....

How it happens in Britain mate is that the round is listed as 10-9 or whatever and then (-1) put next to the score of whoever has suffered the deduction.

I am surprised by the amount of people calling this a shitty decision. Khan lost the fight by being stupid. He was pushing and pulling Petersons head down all the fight and it was only a matter of time he got deductions for it and lets face it, the 2nd the ref called time and he clearly landed a full on punch so that in its self deserved a point.

I had it 113-112 in the end so with out the deductions, Khan would have won by just a point. We cannot blame a ref or the fact it was in DC, Khan just didn't do enough on the night. If there is a rematch, Khan will batter him by a wide points margain, but back to reality, he needs to stop demanding respect now and concentrate on winning fights in front of him and stop thinking P4P title here I come.

What about the punch after the break. Khan even looked at the ref before throwing the punch.

Khan's done himself no favours in the interview with Merchant. Aggrieved or not, it shows a lack of class.

I have no problem with the decision, and I'm surprised so many people are up in arms about it. Khan showed that he only knows how to fight one way, and Peterson's style gave him nightmares. That and Khan's lack of discipline have cost him the fight.

I wanted Khan to win, but it's hard not to be happy for Peterson.

it's how u score the swing rds.

particularly 4 & 10.

i had khan shading both.

i accept they were close.

the rest of it was fairly easy to score tbh.

Cannot remember the 10th, but I gave 4th to peterson which had Khan by 1 point then.

I've just watched the replay, 113-112 for Peterson is a fair card.

It's concerning how Khan unravels when the opponent applies constant pressure, the second deduction was a bit iffy but he'd just given Peterson a big shove then uppercutted him as the ref called break. He should probably have had a point taken for holding the head, which he got away with, so it's fair enough.

As for the judging, it's well known by everyone that the aggressor gets the benefit of any doubt in America, sometimes if there isn't any doubt too, and at times Khan was reminiscent of Andre Dirrell, running around the ring avoiding confrontation. I guess the difference in this instance is that Peterson's aggression was effective, sometimes he was just chugging forward but he landed some good shots that had an impact on Amir.

It's time for him to knuckle down and work on how to handle opponents in close much better. The bodywork that we saw against Maidana was largely absent, if he could have discouraged Peterson he might have got the nod.

A theme with British fighters is that they are used to having the referee in their favour all the time, questionable stoppages and the like, so when they go abroad and get a fair official or one that is slightly against, they can't cope.

It wasn't a bad defeat in the sense that he took a pasting or lost to a bum, Peterson is better than I thought he was for sure. What is most concerning is that the blueprint is well and truly out there now. Apply intelligent pressure, cover up well to the body and once you are in range let your hands go, and don't worry about Khan's flurries.
