What a tough career.

I was looking at Robin Reid's career record here and I noticed that he suffered a very early career draw to Danny Juma.

Anybody know the wherabouts of Juma, I had a scan of his record and its (minus Calzaghe) almost reading like a whoose who of post Benn/Eubank/Collins of decent British Super Middles/Light Heavys.

Was Juma any good? That Reid draw seems good because one would expect no favours to be given as Reid was riding on the Olympic hype.

The man only had 3 positive results on his record (and I am calling the draw a positive) and Reid later got the win over 8 rounds. However, its hard to say if he really was a poor fighter on his record alone because he fought such good fighters. Three world champions (leading four bodies), 5 former world title challengers (leading four bodies) a guy with a win over Jimmy Vincent and a former WBF champion who came within a whisker of adding a British title on two occasions.

Poor guy? Was he poor or just very badly managed?

Danny Juma campaigned in a lower weight if I remember correct, and he was something of a durable journeyman that Reid was expected to blow away easilly, this fight was always brought up has Reid`s major negative for a long time.

Surely it was a little hard to predict what Juma was like prior to the first Reid fight. He was only 0-1 when they met.

That record is incomplete mate for sure, there is no way he was 0-1 at the time.

Where any of his fights televised. I have the bill where he fought Klemesten (Reid vs Calzaghe) but that not part of the PPV.

What about his fight with Piper? It was on the Jimenez vs Reegan bill which was on Sky.

Anybody have that show on tape? I wouldn't mind viewing that

My memory fails me I am afraid, but I know he defnitely wasnt 0-1 when he fought Reid. Any other old fucks about who remember? ;)

I just looked at his fight stats on Boxrec, he definetly wasn`t as bad as his record looks.

I have his first or second fight with Reid on tape somewhere I`ll try to find it.
I shall also go through back issues of BN, I was pretty sure he`d had more fights than Boxrec have him down for.
Wasn`t he with Barney Eastwood alongside Crisanto Espana and Victor Cordoba?

I`m pretty sure he was little more than a light-middle, gangly and awkward..and quite usefull.
