Razor Ruddock v Ray Mercer

Post by Roco »

What happens here?

Both could be lazy and both durable. Does it go the distance?

Now this would've been a fun and competitive matchup, never thought about this one before. I would have to favor Mercer to win, either by a middle rounds stoppage or by decision. The jab would win him rounds and the chin would have him survive Razor's bombs, but Razor didn't have the best chin himself.

I agree Mercer had the superior boxing skills, Ruddock definitely hit harder, but Mercer would be able to take his shots. I figure either Mercer stops him late or wins a decision in an entertaining scrap.

I'm not terribly big on Mercer so I'll go against the grain with a Ruddock decision provided he used his boxing skills rather than just throwing the 'smash' over and over.

A very tough close fight which I believe Mercer wins on most occasions.

Those opinions are the most similar to my own.

You have to watch their fights with Lennox Lewis to grasp the distance between these 2 Heavyweight boxers...

Ruddock was in trouble almost immediately with Lewis -- but Mercer was extremely competitive the whole fight.

Then of course their fights with Tommy Morrison.... Mercer boxes better -- and takes a shot better.

Tyson was smart.... He nixed a Mercer fight -- and I didn't see it as a good matchup for him either.

Somewhere along the mine, Mercer catches a sloppy Ruddock and batters him until it's stopped.

Good chance that Ruddock will be ahead on the cards at the time of the KO.
