I was actually talking to Stevek3lly about this yesterday. We'ver both changed our outlook on boxing over the past 12 months.

Previously we have always routed for the brits no matter what fight they are in or who they are fighting. But cocky arrogant fighters like Khan and Haye have made us realise we much prefer the modest, hard working fights, ie Burns and Peterson. These are the kind of people that now seem to take me in and gain my support

The guy was rummaging through bins and living under a motorway bridge aged just 10yrs old. That's a terrible start to life. He's fought to the best of his ability, without the aid of a superstar coach, an Olympic medal and a diet guru.

Many would have folded in the opening rounds, under the razzle dazzle. But he dug deep, pressed forward and threw leather. He beat khan up on the ropes for long spells and snatched the belt by the thinnest of margins.

Khan and his huge entourage were beaten-up, humbled and sent packing.

That cock-sure attitude pre Prescott had been simmering back to the surface for some time. Peterson put that back in check. He likely did Amir a favour, and saved him from the thrashing of a lifetime at the hands of Floyd in 2012.

The contrived "I don't blame Peterson, I blame the officials" line had no basis. It's not like the judges gave Lamont 10 rounds from 12 in a razor thin fight. And that is the worrying thing about it all.

The British press have ran the headlines "khan robbed" and a gazillion Facebook fans roared that khan hammered him, robbery etc.

The reality is when Khan was buckling when the fight was taken to him. He should have had those skill sets in his locker to have dealt with it, like Tim Bradley did - but he didn't.

Khan needs to analyse and face up to the real reason he lost against quite a basic operator - but I honestly don't think he will.

The raw materials are there, but I think the boxing brain is just not there. Sure that creates exciting viewing, but ultimately he won't fulfil his potential - or, more concerningly for his loyal fans , he has achieved more than he should have and that he'll never beat Tim Bradley and could even get stuffed hard by Brandon Rios who can definitely take a punch (not a mark after Murray fight) and loves to get macho with his hurtful punches.

I, like many others, was pleased when Khan took that humbling defeat to Prescott as the hype machine was getting a bit overload at the time and I didn't care too much about him. But, since that defeat I have grown to like him and enjoy watching him fight and progress.

It's clear he has some huge flaws, and these have been talked about for a long time, but people are so fickle and quick to jump on his back as soon as the bandwagon comes to a screeching halt. Some of the comments just come across as blind hatred, which is a little concerning. I know he often makes a prat of himself with his mouth but he's young and a bit stupid, just ignore it. There's no denying he has talent and potential, he just needs to steady himself a bit and stop believing the hype that surrounds him.

And when it comes to supporting a Brit, I don't think there's anything wrong with that, it is a natural feeling, I am in no way patriotic and my favourite fighter for a long time has been JMM, but it's a natural fit to support a fellow countryman as you are exposed to that fighter a lot more than a foreigner. There have been plenty of occasions where I have supported somebody against a Brit though, but to dismiss anyone for supporting a fighter from your own country is a bit silly, esp when we have natural rivalries with Americans etc for example.

This loss, I am not too fussed about, was a little disappointed as I like to see fighters climb to the top, but like somebody else mentioned the hype was growing into hysteria again, so it is quite timely for us fans and probably Khan himself.

None of them have got his best interests at heart, and they paint him out to be an arrogant, money grabbing wanker, when he's probably a nice-ish, if a bit dim kid who probably wants to be left alone to get on with his job.

The loss won't do him much harm, it'll make him focus a bit more to improve. I wouldn't take an immediate rematch with Peterson, he'd lose again without some significant adjustments to his style. Lamont made the adjustment superbly and controlled most of the fight, I don't give much credit to a man mainly flurrying and missing, then running away to avoid an inside fight (or plain fouling).

Haye is different, a more boring, loathsome character there surely isn't in boxing. Apart from Alex Ariza perhaps. I'd support al-Qaeda against that fornicator.

I voted the second option, because I wanted Amir to win and so it is the closest to my opinion, but this poll is very skewed toward an agenda. "He's a Brit so I support him regardless" is a stupid option. Regardless of what? I really don't think Amir's that big a dick at all. I don't dislike him. He's alright. I support him because I'm a fan, he's a good boxer and an alright lad and I want him to win. I DO support him because he is from my country, but I do not dislike him and just support him anyway. Khan actually comes across as quite a nice lad who has confidence in himself and is honest, sometimes saying things that annoy others. I do not get the hate against him at all.
