Golden Boy/Khan out of line?

Post by Trouble »

After the B-Hop nonsense Golden Boy have now lodged an appeal to have the Khan/Peterson fight overturned. Khan on the BBC this mornng saying if it gets overturned he will goive Lamont a rematch! Are GBP out of line? I say yes.

I'd say i have more chance of winning this week's lottery than Khan and GBP hsve of overturning the decision. Khan won't get a chance to offer Peterson the re-match that's for sure. Peterson is in the driving seat and he can decide what he can do. Tney won't be offering peanuts this time, that's for sure.

Way out of line.

They won't get it overturned anyway.

Peterson must secretly be thrilled, instead of admitting the flaws in his game and going back to the gym immediately to work on them, Khan is in denial and is wanting the result overturned. I said afterwards that unless they tighten a few things up Peterson would beat him again.

Yes Khan seems to be missing the point here, the arrogance of him and his team will prove to be his downfall when Peterson beats him again, without the deductions he may have scraped through in what was meant to be a routine defence, but peterson with added confidence may well improve on his last performance and stop khan next time,if there is a next time

My thoughts exactly. Peterson will beat him again. Khan's ego is bigger than Bolton.

Complete sour grapes from GBP and Khan. It was a close fight that could have gone either way. Get back to the gym and work on your flaws, although I can't see Amir suddenly developing an inside game now.

He'll lose far more credibility by doing this. The sensible thing to do is accept the defeat, congratulate Peterson on a good fight, train hard for the rematch and righting the wrong in the rematch.

They are. The deductions were totally justified. On my card without the deductions Khan would have won by a point. However, scorecards at face value don't tell the story of a fight, I would still feel that Peterson got the better of him despite technically losing. I suspect Khan deep down feels the same and can't deal with it.
He should've congratulated him, said it was a close fight and that's the way things go sometimes and stated that he wanted a rematch. That would have shown some degree of character. As it is he's just confirming my rock solid opinion that he's a thick, gobby little pratt, who if he were not a fighter would be spending his evenings hanging around on a corner with his mates saying "yeah, yeah, yeah" and "safe" a lot.
Maybe I'm being harsh there but that's just how he strikes me. I've got nothing but respect for his talent and he's shown he's got heart a few times but damnit kid, keep the trap shut.

Khan must be so bitter after this rude awakening. In his heart of hearts he knows now that he's not all that and he's not on the level of Tim Bradley, let alone Pacman, Marquez and Mayweather.

You can't lose your title IMO fair and square and then have the arrogance to go on national tv and insinuate that when the wrongful decision is overturned you will give the other guy a rematch. That's plain cocky. If I were Peterson I'd tell Khan he can have a rematch when he takes his defeat like a man, which won't be anytime soon.

I dunno if they are that far out of line, I thought the ref was a disgrace.

Didn't Lennox try the same thing after the 1st Holyfield fight?

The vast majority seem to think otherwise.

I don't know if anybody on here listened to this earlier but it was all over the place. Khan came on and said he was appealing the decision because:

- pushing isn't illegal
- he said the referee warned him twice then corrected himself to say it was only once and then that he should have carried on warning
- his 'team' told him he had it and that's a fact and also that HBO had him winning so he definitely won

Rachel Burden (host) said that many boxing people she had spoken to said it wasn't really that controversial and maybe he would be better off leaving it alone and going for the re-match and this was when he started to say that he'd be happy to give Peterson a re-match.

I'm not sure it's Khan so much, this really does sound like money talking and that those 'supporting' him don't want to give up the easy money lightly. It all sounded very rehearsed

GBP seem to try this after every fight.

Yes the decision was harsh and Khan got a tough deal but it was by no means a robber khan shoud just try and win his titles back fairly.

Of course its GBP they did the same after ortiz v PBF and ortiz clearly wasnt that bothered. It would be a massive injustice if peterson got his title taken off him.

He was moaning about be headbutted in the ear on sky sports news and appeal has gone in due to Michael Buffer originally being given cards to show Khan winning split decision. He was also moaning about ibf scorecards going missing or someting, surely there's only 1 set of scorecards?

Yeah i read that as well. Looking at the scorecards on the picture that was on here then you can guess how it happened as the score for round 7 was transcribed the wrong way ie 10-8 to Khan instead of 10-8 to Peterson. If there were two sets of cards, one for WBA & IBF then surely there would be a need for two sets of judges

Human error, not conspiracy.

Well lets be fair something happened with the score cards theres no doubt about that, it seems strange khans camp were told he had won on 2 cards, buffer called it a majority decision and it took about 8 minutes for the announcement when it did come.

My guess is it was due to the 8-10 round being copied the wrong way round lol

Its one of those things, if you like Khan then you will probably support this action, if you don't, you probably wont.

In this case, I have to go with "meh, whatever"

Try and look at things from other peoples points of view, it will change your life, man.
