I dunno if its defo true but i've heard that if a Matchroom fighter fights on a saturday, the money is in his account on the Monday afterwards - no f*cking about. Exactly how it should be in my eyes.
I'd rather wait a month for 50k than be paid 10k straight away, just a thought.

A certain promoter discussed i no mainly has the shows on a saturday therefore give all fighters a cheque for what there owed unless they are on a contract of some sort. You get the Cheque on saturday meaning you cant put it into bank till Monday, therefore this will take 5 working days to clear so you will have the money by friday with this it gives the promoter a week to find the money if they havnt done well in the show (boxing business talk). What in fact Eddie Hearn is saying is that a fighter should be paid for the job ASAP no waiting a week for money. I know Matchroom pay cash to lower purses and for the bigger purses the moneys in the account by monday if the shows on saturday (good business).Cardiff-Lad1 wrote:It wouldn't be the first boxer from a certain promotor that hasn't been paid following a fight. and its months as opposed to weeks :(Josh1111 wrote:Do you think this is related to John Murray saying he wasn't pauid after the Mitchell fight?

You clearly can't see the woods for the trees.
I think you'll find that some boxers are waiting for weeks, sometimes months for their money - and not the headliners.
I love that song Calvin Harris did with Kelis.

Got to say, iv never had a problem being paid. Have heard some storys thou. Boxed for Matchroom, Coldwell promotions, Chris Gilmore and the St Andrews Sporting Club. My manager always sorts it there and then. As for ticket sales, yeah its a pain doing it. You look at it, as a partnership. Well thats how i do. The more i sell the bigger % i get on this. Kin honestly say, that iv had as much as 25% on ma sales. If av boxed on other shows, av always had the best possible purse. Its simple, if you managers not doing his job. Well, id move on. ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

There's a number of fighters out there at present which are waiting for a certain promoter to pay them. They have been waiting months. No names but it's hardly a trade secret.

What if its the opponent, not the Promotor's fighter ?
Re: Suspend promoters who don't pay their boxers on time!
I remember fighting in Brighton on a Peacock show. I was gloved up and ready to go when my opponent failed his medical. It was top of the bill as my opponent was the ticket seller, many went home and had refunds too. Jackie Bowers RIP came over and gave me my full purse, I didn't even have to ask. I almost felt guilty as these small hall shows struggle to break even at the best of times. Good people the Bowers.
Re: Suspend promoters who don't pay their boxers on time!
Then perhaps that promotor should be banned from putting on shows until they sort out paying there fighters.twenty six wrote:What if its the opponent, not the Promotor's fighter ?

We can but hope - but in truth, it won't be sorted.

If the fighters are with the promotor I am sure a few will leave. Feel sorry for the other fighters who are not. Its almost like they need to ask for a depsoit of 50% upfront before they fight!twenty six wrote:We can but hope - but in truth, it won't be sorted.

It's like the DFS sale.
DFS Promotions: Fight now, pay later with 0% interest on top.

Not on if I was fighter I would be looking at getting out of the contract with him. If you are the away fighter even worse situation to be in.G0mez wrote:It's like the DFS sale.

What if a promoter went bankrupt owing a fighter money?
Surely the BBBofC would not let the promoter to continue promoting under a different company name?

i seriously agree. the whole 'open a new Ltd Co' gambit is so far out of the Board's purview as to be a separate galaxy.
when you say 'what if a promoter....debts' you need to be more specific. when a Ltd co is shut down, the debts accrued are the company's, not the director's, and the debts die with the company.
it's shitty but thats the way the law works, and the board can't change that.
