Re: Who should Froch face next?
Froch has come through a murderer's row of world class opponents, winning most and only losing conclusively to one. Why on earth would he be troubled by a non-skilled, non-puncher, no defense 'allegedly' protected domestic fighter who has fought noone but has already been troubled by absolute stiffs?
The very fact that Frankie would never put Cleverley within a hundred miles of Froch pretty much says it all.
Each to his own I guess....

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Its my opinion though, that Cleverly would have a field day against Froch.
Your comment of non-skilled, non-puncher, no defense applies more so to Froch than Cleverly.
Re-watch the Bellew fight again and take note of how many clean punches Nathan actually took .. then watch pretty much any Froch fight and compare ..
Re: Who should Froch face next?
A lot of people also thought Clev would defeat Bellew convincingly, but he failed to do so and was pushed very close. He also struggled with Mohammadi and was rocked by Kuziemski, both of whom are vastly inferior to Froch.
Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, and Johnson all failed to bust Froch up, so I doubt Cleverly would.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Who the frig is Tony fricken Bellew in world terms??? Who cares? The guy is irrelevant. A domestic level fighter. Why would anyone ever use him to prove a point like this?
Cleverley would be demolished by every one of Froch's last seven opponents...
Yes, because it's really accurate to describe a guy with Froch's resume like this compared to a domestic fighter who has fought noone but still struggled against many, and who is being protected desperately by a promoter who has no faith in him...Your comment of non-skilled, non-puncher, no defense applies more so to Froch than Cleverly.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
I think fair play to Clev for showing some balls and throwing his name into the hat, which is more than can be said for the rest of the uk. Unless he's riding Froch's name with no intention.
But id like to think he does want it. But Warren ch567 unlikely afford it. Because the main thing that will scupper it is because Froch would want his purse up front.
But let's be honest it would be a matchroom show on Sky if it was made.

It's a shame we'll never see the inevitable Froch KO2 but if by some miracle it does happen I'll be sure to remember this thread.

What makes you think that Froch would get a KO in 2rnds over Cleverly?Riddick Blowe wrote:It's a shame we'll never see the inevitable Froch KO2 but if by some miracle it does happen I'll be sure to remember this thread.
Absolutely nothing in Carls or Nathans career would hint at such a result. Which fight are you basing your prediction on?
Most of Carls early stoppages have ended with his opponents on their feet ..

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Froch next fight should be in nottingham vs Magee ,Sakio Bika , Allan Green , Jesse Brinkley or Adonis Stevenson
all are what should be wins to get him back on track but are ranked highly enough to not be seen as irrelivant .
Bika probably looks to be the most entertaining fight of those .

Re: Who should Froch face next?
It has to be Kessler as far as I'm concerned.
He has unfinished business at 168lb & it would be foolhardy of him to go up to 175lb without a rematch with Kessler.
Carl himself would probably want a rematch with Ward if he was to defeat Kessler, but I personally think it would be a waste of time as Ward is in a whole stratosphere to that of Carl Froch.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Nathan doesn't have the power to keep Froch off him and he also ships a few too. Froch would beat him comfortably.
Nathan needs to prove he belongs to be mentioned for such a fight first to be honest. Still hasn't faced a top fighter yet, let alone beat one. The likes of Bute etc are way above him.
I voted Kessler but that was before the Bute story came about. That would be a cracker too.

He is so unproven it's not even worth discussing it IMO.
I like the lad, let's not feed him to the lions too early. Let him develop as far as he can then cash in against someone like Dawson etc. Calzaghe he most definitely is not.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Nathan would have too much work-rate for Froch. Has a bigger engine, and would find the target at ease all night.
Froch would play right into Cleverlys hands with his hands down face first wild swings coming forward. Cleverly would stand with him and land his quick shots.
The big strong Bellew couldn't out-muscle Nathan - so the smaller Froch has no chance, thus taking a large part of Carls game away as shown against Ward.
Of course Carl is a level up from the likes of Bellew. But its clear Carl is not a big puncher and as Ward remarked, he isn't the fastest with his hands and feet.
I just honestly think that Nathan would look a million dollars against Froch.
Styles make fights as they say - and Froch is made for Cleverly.

Are you talking about the same Nathan Cleverly that was troubled by a 16 fight novice who has barely fought above domestic level?tonyevs wrote:Nathan would have too much work-rate for Froch. Has a bigger engine, and would find the target at ease all night.

I like Nathan a lot and I think he has bags of potential, but put him in a ring with froch tomorrow and it's the proverbial men against boys.
Re: Who should Froch face next?
A minor size difference does not equate to a physical strength advantage for the larger fighter, and Bellew isn't even a physically strong fighter. Froch, on the other hand, has proven his strength repeatedly against world class opponents, several of whom would be decent sized light heavyweights if they moved up. He has also shown great durability and stamina, the latter of which is significant because Bellew's engine let him down against Clev; had Bellew won the final two rounds he would have won the fight.tonyevs wrote:Nathan would have too much work-rate for Froch. You wrote 'Absolutely nothing in Carls or Nathans career would hint at such a result,' but if predictions should be based on previous fights, there is no basis for your prediction that someone pushed close by domestic/euro dwellers (Bellew and Mohhamadi; also rocked by Kuziemski) is going to bust up a fighter who is arguably top 25 pound for pound.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
i wouldn't bother, he doesn't seem to understand the difference between a domestic level fighter who has fought absolutely noone and still struggled, and a proven world class operator who has beaten some top fighters at the weight.crusader wrote:and which fights suggest that Clev will bust up Froch?tonyevs wrote:What makes you think that Froch would get a KO in 2rnds over Cleverly?Riddick Blowe wrote:It's a shame we'll never see the inevitable Froch KO2 but if by some miracle it does happen I'll be sure to remember this thread.![]()

He might as well be saying 'Oh, Bradley Pryce is so much slicker than Antonio Margarito, he would box rings round him!'

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Nathan would love the fight and he'd even take the fight in Nottingham if that's what it took to get a fight with Froch. What do Froch and Hearn have to lose? They will obviously be confident of winning so Froch can become a 2 weight world champ and it saves him travelling to Canada or Denmark for a world title where he won't get the rub of the green with the judges. This would get 20,000 fans if it was in the summer.
As for the fight itself, Nathan is better on the inside and has the speed to take advantage of Froch's stance on the outside too. Froch won't KO Nathan because he hasn't got the power and Nath has a fine chin, and Nath can fight for a very high pace for a full 12 rounds - unlike Taylor, Abraham and Johnson.

Re: Who should Froch face next?
Just to add, at the press conference today Francis Warren said he'd have no problems about putting Clev in with Froch but it's Froch's promoter who doesn't want it. Francis also said that when the arena was booked for Clevs homecoming they offered Pascal and Shumenov the fight and neither wanted it.
Re: Who should Froch face next?
I personally like the idea of the fight. But Clev's handlers have no intention of even mentioning Froch's name as an opponent in reality.
(Apart from slagging him off in his pathetic and bitter Sun column)
You Clev fans need to switch on. He's facing several years of mediocrity, imported from Argentina and Latvia - behind the "we need to make him look good, build his profile in Wales" bullcrap.
2012 consists of 2 bums then Enzo Macc. Especially when fans are buying tickets to a show and they don't even have an opponent !
Even Clev believes Froch might be in his future, the reality is the marketing people are riding Froch's high profile at the moment. There is zero being discussed on the matter I can assure you.

You know full well it won't happen. I'd love to see Cleverly in with a top light heavy sometime soon, but I can't see that happening either.
