Some great sessions on this forum, i might try some to mix my gym sessions up.

Keep up the hard work lads.

On crossfit workouts how good do you keep form on the pull ups? I can do 8 hanging pull ups in a row but I do them slowly, keeping form perfect. When I rush them my depth isn't consistent and my form is as bent as Frochy's nose.

Just dunno how to do them when being timed.

They don't count if you don't dead hang... I try to do them as quick as possible, whilst doing them properly. I get pulled up (no pun intended) on it if they're not correct.

It's a false economy anyway really... if you have to redo one or two because you didn't do it properly, it'll take longer in the long run.

I've been told to start doing "chest to bar" pull ups now, rather than "chin to bar". :x

Righteo lads, after reading through the thread i thought i would have a go at the Treadmill interval thing.

So it was my first go, and it went like this.

5 minutes warm up jog.

Then 30 seconds at 16kmh
Then 60 seconds at 9kmh.

Did that ten times, then did a five minutes jog.

Like i say, it was my first go, i think i could go quicker and have less rest time, and make it a longer session, All about tweaking i think.
Tonight i will go and do my weight's stuff, i am in a cobweb blowing stage after a year on the booze, kebabs and whores, including a broken leg stint.

I am seriolsy thinking about going to a Local BJJ club after xmas, i have done judo and Ju-Jitsu in the past, and bjj always looked great.

Bring on the lighter, fitter healthier me!

Hi mate,

I am from Bolton just outside Manchester. I believe there are four clubs around my area, but one good one i hear about twenty minutes from me.

I hear good as in a good coach and also a few people of my size. I dont know weather that makes a difference in BJJ, but when doing Judo i was always rolling/throwing with smaller or bigger, never someone similar. Frustrating it was!!

Looks like there's a couple of clubs in Bolton, Combat Base have a really good comp team... don't know much about Aspinall BJJ, but i've heard the name and they look to be a decent club from their website :TU: Both look pretty large, so you should get a good range of training partners, and both have black belts at the helm...

Here's a map showing them and other clubs around the area http://slideyfoot.wordpress.com/2001/01 ... jiu-jitsu/ :TU:

Awesome.... nicely done

Amazing how these things increase with some consistent training... I want 200kg deads by end of next year, but I think/hope with proper training, i'll get it sooner.

Yeah 180 is my target for now. It's literally gone up every since I nailed the technique. 180 would be double my weight at the moment though I'm hoping to get that down when I return from my travels.

Had been stuck on 80kg's on the bench for a while so it was a relief to clear that.

I haven't benched in god-knows-how-long.... my crossfit guy just doesn't use it as part of my workouts, so I don't know what i'd bench. I'll have to give it a go and see what I can push. When I started crossfit, my bench was about 75 if I remember correctly, and at that time my dead was a worryingly bad 70kgs. Now it's 130kg off the floor, and max is 140 off a 6inch rack, so I'd hope that even though i've not been benching, it'll have gone up due to the other exercises i've been doing.

You going to be training while travelling, or just gin, juice and ho's? :DD

I'm going to stay in Hanoi for a few weeks and I know where there's a decent gym there. Also know there's a BJJ gym there as well so will shake off the rust a bit. Strained my achilles tendon though so will have to be careful.

Still that will only be about 2 weeks of the 2 months I've got off work. Just going to have to take it easy on the beer/food and work on some decent bodyweight routines.

Did Fran again last week and got it down to 8mins exactly - shaved minute and a half off as pull-ups are getting back to where they used to be.
Well, have just 'ticked over' for the festive period but tried Fran again yesterday and surprised myself with a 7min 11secs time. 50 secs inside my previous time and know I can go faster. Managed the first set of 21 thrusters in one, but straight into pull-ups was a killer so ended up doing 7,5,4,4,3 to get to 21. Second set of thrusters I did as a 10 and 5, while pull-ups were 5,4,3,2,1. Did final set of 9 thrusters in one again but was absolutely shredded by then so pull-ups dropped to 3,2,2,1,1.
Still doing strict pull-ups rather than kipping, which clearly costs me a lot of time.

Yesterday I went to the local gym here in France, as I'm on holiday visiting old friends where I used to live. Terrible gym, no equipment... so just ended up doing bench on the smith machine, and then some single arm deads with dumbells, followed by dumbell thrusters - tabata intervals of both.

Then bumped into an old friend on the way home, and went on an accidental 14 hour bender.
