Is global ID just your number as a boxer? Or does everyone have a global ID?
And UD IS - where does this website get that from?
Sorry Im sure these seem like silly questions but I'm just looking through some old friends that used to box like 20 years ago and it seems they have these number attached to their names, so I'm just curious what exactly they are.
Thanks
Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
Re: Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
The Global ID is used by commissions around the world and is generated automatically whenever a new boxer enters the system. US ID is only used by commissions in the USA and comes from the official reports from them.
Re: Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
Global ID is just the number BoxRec assigns to any new boxer entered chronologically into its database. For example, the record of Manuel Ortiz was the very first one entered by BoxRec creator JohnShep, so he has Global ID #1. (Claude, do commissions recognize this BoxRec-assigned number as a boxer's "official" ID number?)
The US ID #, however, is one that the American boxing commission(s) assigns to a boxer licensed to fight in the USA, as I understand it. That federal ID number is not controlled by BoxRec. I could be incorrect about where that ID number comes from.

Most Mexican commissions recognize and use the BoxRec-assigned number.
FightTax assigns the Federal ID# in the USA for the Association of boxing commissions.

Sorry, Ric, I don't know for sure. The only thing I know is that, some official reports use our Global ID to make it easier for us to identify the right boxer...Ric wrote:Global ID is just the number BoxRec assigns to any new boxer entered chronologically into its database. A lot of commissions do as it makes things a lot easier to have a unique identifier for their boxers. It also makes it easier for us when entering commission reports.Ric wrote:do commissions recognize this BoxRec-assigned number as a boxer's "official" ID number?
Re: Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
But if it is used by various commissions, it is indeed "global." Also, commissions need to adopt new IDs if redundant ones get discarded, which happens when records are merged.Emaster wrote:The Global ID could also be called BoxRec ID to indicate that it originates from BoxRec.
Re: Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
how can i obtain Global ID...register or something?
Re: Where does Global ID and US ID come from?
No, just have a pro fight. As soon as we enter your name into BoxRec, you will automatically be assigned a 6-digit global ID.
