It's quite clear Jacobs was an articulate man, who knew Mike Tyson inside out, & who had Tyson's respect, love & trust.
They were best friends. People often ask: "What if Cus had stayed alive?" However, what if Jacobs had lived longer?..

Re: Jim Jacobs interview
Nice & ty for posting this will watch it later. I've always felt Jim Jacobs had a positive impact on Tyson just like Cuz did from all the Tyson books & info I've read that is out there. I think Tyson could have turned out a different person with Jim & especially Cus in his life just a few important years longer then they were around for as he was growing, changing & trying to cope being a person of such magnitude in our society. Can't be an easy task for a normal well adjusted person let alone a person with Tyson's background.
Re: Jim Jacobs interview
In reality Jacobs living longer wouldnt really have made much difference to the decisions Michael Gerard Tyson made in 1988 which shaped his life forever.....he still would have married Robin Givens (that reptilian young woman) and still gone with Don KIng . He would ditched Rooney, Lott, Cayton.....and Jacobs.......
IN retrospect the way Jimmy boy made provisions for his widow to carry on receiving 33% of Tysons income after he died, on top of Cayton getting his 33% cut.......he wsnt any less of a schyster than King....only less greedy and more civilised about the whole thing.

Re: Jim Jacobs interview
That is the better question. Cus died in 1985 before Tyson had really come into his own as a contender. Jacobs took him to the title. It seemed the wheels fell off after Jacobs died.Rocky Balboa wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FtpLQTy ... ture=share

Are you sure about the percentages? The way you are wording it the Jacobs/Cayton interests got 2/3rds (when added together) of Tyson's income
That sounds way out of line. I just don't think this can be true.
Re: Jim Jacobs interview
its true read heller's book on Tyson and Illingworths mentions it too. Also see the KO interview iwth Tyson in 1991 he makes reference there to how he was seeing Jimmy boy differently in light of that revelation
