when is sky sports boxing contracts renewed?

With allegedly being Mr Warrens baby this leaves an awful lot of dates free in the boxing calender for sky. First off i undertand that Mr Warren still has a deal with sky but im not sure when this contract finishes.

That leaves Frank Maloney , Hatton Promotions and Eddie Hearn as they Promoters who fighters will feature on sky nexy year

Do they have enough fighters to fill the void , im sure Hatton promotions wanted more slots in the last contract OR does this open the door for other promotional teams to come in eg: Mick Hennessy

I think negotiations start end of June.
Space has been created by a departure, but I can't see Hennessey getting in.
I think it will be a case of more dates for the remaining and it's up to them to put on the right quality of bill.
There has to be a title fight on every card - excluding World title fights.

Definitely this summer. I'd actually prefer to see less dates if it meant more money was made available for the promoters to bring world champions to Britain rather than our boys being treated as cannon fodder overseas.

I think Sky are pretty adamant, they're not interested in World Titles.
That's not to say they won't show them, just won't pay the money needed.

I can see them doing a fight-by-fight deal with everyone but Matchroom, who will get a good few dates on top of their PF allocation as that show brings in viewers. The other promoters will probably have to do what W arren was doing a few years back.

I reckon at least one current Sky promoter will join BN should the new channel continue well into 2012.

I am pretty sure I read some viewer figures highlighting PF is in decline, and only those with star names doing well these days.

The above were all in tough fights (with only Khan favourite to win) but they weren't outrageous.

I would like to see more competitive bouts - hopefully the foreign opponents will not just be brought over as cannon fodder for the British boxers.

I think no promotor going to want to move to allegedly a channel with low subscriptions. Will they get paid?

Perhaps cannon fodder is too strong and no way was I referring to established champs like Khan, Haye and Froch. However, Hatton, Rhodes, Barker, Macklin and the two Murrays were not brought in as live opponents by the promoters concerned. Only Ryan was a mandatory, the rest were brought in as date fillers and record padders, let's not kid ourselves. That they did better than expected is something we can only say in hindsight. But that wasn't the plan at all.

Why would the likes of Sergio Martinez, Felix Sturm and Saul Alvarez come to this country when they are making huge money in their own backyards???. Never going to happen. To suggest that they will come over here for fights is pie in the sky.

Our fighters are offered decent paydays to fight these marquee names, there is no shame in that. The likes of Martin Murray, Darren Barker, Matthew Macklin and Dereck Chisora have given their careers a real boost by taking these fights. They have proved they belong in world class.

To suggest they are mere record padders is cynical, negative and in truth, just plain wrong.

Decent compared to their usual purses. If I remember rightly, John Murray had a career best payday. Hardly a wasted journey.
