Here is a really good and interesting article on the career of Young Mitchell. I really like reading these types of articles on great boxers who are such underated greats and virtually unknown today. Young Mitchell was definitely one of the better ones. Interesting that despite his great record, he doesnt really seem to place himself in the same class as the Non pareil Jack Dempsey.

Here is Fitzsimmons challenge to stop Young Mitchell in 10 rounds for $5000. Pretty interesting also that he refused to spar with the great Peter jackson at a benefit. Presumably because of the size differentiation. It would have been great to have actually witnessed some of these sparring benefits, which i am sure were often more than just "spars".

here is another good one which mentions some of his early fights including at least one unrecorded fight (at least from what i can gather) with Jim Johnson from London. Mitchell toured australia with costello, and seems that both were very classy fighters.
