Omar was an absolute class act, would have won a title and be ready to fight Doran ifhe had continued.
Sadly he suffered from back problems and has a decent job so he jacked it in :-(

Thanks for the information mate. I reckon he would have given Doran a real good fight. Would have been a popular ticketseller
in the Chester / North East Wales region. Would have been the first to get a ticket for that one. Hope Omar is well these
days and enjoying life?

It was my dream fight. Doran-Gumati at the racecourse!SleepyJoker wrote:Thanks for the information mate. I reckon he would have given Doran a real good fight. Would have been a popular ticketseller

He seems happy, haven't spoken to him for a while! Will message him, say Tom called him a bum or something! haha!
Re: Whatever Happened To Omar Gumati?
I saw him fight Matvienko (who posts on here) to a draw at Bolton & it was a good fight. Slightly controversial so the promoters said that there would be a rematch sadly it never happened because Omar was ill. Definitely not doubting the above, but I seem to think it wasnt a bad back at that time. Anyway the top & bottom of it is the rematch never happened.

He boxed very well that night I underestimated him but he started very well and was boxing quality at times. I didn't have my usual snap had to grind him down which I felt I did in the later rounds. I think I brought the best out of him that night and was a good scrap as well as per usual!!

Good fighter, could have done things, well avoided in the industry, frozen out at times, real shame.SleepyJoker wrote:I just wondered as I used to hear something's about him in the local Chester paper and then nothing. Just curious what

Re: Whatever Happened To Omar Gumati?
I reported on the Shaun Farmer one, undercard of Chris P Bacon beating tony moran on a sunday afternoon. Aside from a scouse chap shouting "come on tone" every 2 seconds form behind me my lasting memory is being stuck for things to write between rounds of your fight.
I did the randall fight too, although I dont remember that as much as I do it was the first time I'd seen Mark Thompson fight as he was also on the undercard. Mark looked good that night, then the next time I saw him he was woeful (in my opinion) against a Russian bloke on the undercard of Moore Macklin.
Good times.

Yea and Bacon vs Moran was a slug fest was funny at weigh in just after Tony weighed in he said "Buzzing now I made weight bin dying for a bacon butty!!" then realised what he said as Chris was looking at him ha ha!!Wales wrote:I reported on the Shaun Farmer one, undercard of Chris P Bacon beating tony moran on a sunday afternoon. Randall was at Shaw I think it may be Jack dougherty gym even as it was his show in a gym up there? Mark boxed Ernie Smith in his 3rd bout (1st of 2 vs Ernie)
Yes he was on Macklin vs Moore aswell and I think he will be boxing soon as he is training hard

Wales is that a dig or complement as everytime i watch our bout its up and down from one minute to the next i really dont see how the ref could pick a winner it was two very evenly matched lads fighting there hearts out leaving nothing out the ring????Wales wrote:I reported on the Shaun Farmer one, undercard of Chris P Bacon beating tony moran on a sunday afternoon. In no way a dig there was too much going on! Usually you have a solid couple of moments in a round of an undercard fight that you mention in what is usually a shorter report than the headline. You guys just went berserk. I remember not making notes because I was trying to keep up with the action.
