Benn vs Eubank : Gladitorial combat documentary

Post by Quixall »

Just wondered if you guys had seen this ??

Its a gladitorial contest that was set up between Benn and Eubank in the early 2000's i believe. Benn and Eubank train as Gladiators at Ostia near Rome on the site of an old ruined Gladitorial combat school used by the Romans. Each get a trainer and learn the arts of Gladitorial combat and then ultimately face each other in a mini arena.

Very good viewing if you haven't see it.........

Yeah I remember watching this. I have it somewhere on VHS. It was great to see how different these guys were and how their personalities meshed. Eubank did not seem to know what he had got himself into and Benn was not someone you wanted to deal with if you were not 100% up for it.

Benn revelled in the gladiatorial training and combat. You could see the trainers slowly realise what a true warrior Nigel was(he was a natural). I don't think even they would have tangled with him if given the chance.

I think out of the two, Eubank ultimately would have been more succesfull as a gladiator. Benn was too aggressive and i think to win and survive in that atmosphere you needed a calm and intelligent approach. I could see Benn slaughtering a few, saying "I'm loving this..........." and then bang, he gets undone by his aggression overtaking his sense.
