why hasnt Arthur Abraham moved back down to middleweight?
why hasnt Arthur Abraham moved back down to middleweight?
I can understand that the middle weight divison lacked big names so AA moved up to smw which is a stretch for him. However now martinez has livened up the mw division and there are lots of decent fights out there including a potential super fight, why isnt AA moving back down to the division he dominated? I would love to see him in the ring with guys like murray, macklin, barker, sturm, pirog, alvarez, martinez.

His next fight is with Pablo "Pokémon" Farias a guy who has fought around 168-175 for most of his career...and was last seen knocking out Jose Clavero with a shot so cheap that even Abraham himself would have been ashamed:

Think this is taking place at Super Mid.

Farias is highly ranked by the IBF at SMW (god knows how)Final round wrote:iamasadlittleboy wrote:His next fight is with Pablo "Pokémon" Farias a guy who has fought around 168-175 for most of his career...and was last seen knocking out Jose Clavero with a shot so cheap that even Abraham himself would have been ashamed:

Roughly translates his quote as:
"I begin in the super middleweight division and see how I bring the weight down. If it works, it works, if not, I stay in the super middleweight division," Abraham said in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
"I do not think I'll be back to the middle weight that is too heavy. Middleweight is not worth it, that I look at the body break it."
So certainly some conflicting reports, but Farias fight certainly won't be at 160 (despite the fact Farias does look capable of making 160, he's about 5'8" and chubby)

I'm pretty sure AA will drop down to around 165 for this fight, with his next 'big' fight after this taking place at 160.

Abraham has pretty much indicated his future lies at Middleweight. To be fair to him he has never been beaten there, it'll be interesting to see if he can get a World title back and keep hold of it.
