Geales future

Post by amwsnw »

Just heard daniel on abc radio during the cricket. Whilst he stated he was not looking past his upcoming bout, he said that they had a couple of big money fight offers on the table should he be succesful in march...they include: the winner of martinez v jcc jnr, which I didnt think was happening or fighting sturm in england !! Interesting offers.

Sturm in England sounds good, however there would be an ulterior motive behind this, maybe part of getting Sturm and Geale to England would require a possible second fight for the winner with perhaps a local lad?

Just seems strange that England would want the fight, the US i can understand.

Daniel has already beaten a German champion in Germany. As Champion he should be able to say where he fights.

I agree, that the champion should be allowed to choose to fight at home, but I think the mark of a true champion, is one who is prepared to choose to fight anywhere, especially in the challengers backyard.

I still like the idea of neutral venues for title fights as well. Champ should be able to fight at home as long as he has that star power that allows for a big purse, and fighters of the highest calibre are drawn to the champs home country. As we know America and to a lesser extent Germany hold neutral title fights all the time and is really the Mecca for money boxing. So in order to do that, the price of the fight or purse bid needs to be higher than the superstars big time promoters normally high bid.

I agree about true champion fights anyone, anywhere.

While it's a nice thought, who in Germany is going to pay for an Aussie vs a Brit? For starters the only way it would happen is a purse bid that Grange didn't win. More importantly, Daniel's purse wouldn't be as healthy.

I thought so too

Back onto Germany, i was just implying that Germany has become a power house in promoting the big fights, although people don't want to acknowledge it they controll the best big man in the sport, all the best heavys and all the best cruisers, whilst the US controlls pretty much the rest.

It would never be a main event but you have to consider a main event between Cunningham (US) vs Hernedez (Cuban) so when stating who would watch an Aussie vs a Brit in Germany, although i originally refer to the purse bid drwing the champ out of his own back yard.

Kind of like how the Green camp kind of keeped bidding on Beyer 2 until the fight went for 2.1 million and they were out bid by 20000 dollars and on the doco the Fight game were extremely unhappy ;;-) , the champ didn't want to leave Germany and needed to restore pride after 1 hell of a beating and Greens camp knew this.

Anyone seen the Fight game, unbelievable dodc on Green, I remeber Broncano(Editor) starting a thread about this on current scene a couple of years a go saying he had a new found respect for Green and Aussie fighters saying we were Crazy as shitt, watch it and see why, Fenech is a nutter.
