George Foreman v Tim Witherspoon

Post by Roco »

I don't fancy anything other than a Foreman win but how do you think the fight would go? Could Tim land that overhand right and stun Foreman?

Very, very winnable fight for Witherpoon. If not for the Smith loss (whatever the theories) I'd have it as a lock. I'd still say Witherspoon 75% of the time.

Really? I'm not even sure I'd take Spoon over second career Foreman. Whiterspoon was almost never in shape and usually faded late. Foreman could take the odd right hand and would be much more consistent.

Actually I think otherwise. If anything this is a very winnable fight for Foreman. I can see Tim just getting overwhelmed by Foreman.

I think Foreman would be too much for him. I commented on another thread a few minutes ago giving Witherspoon a good chance of beating Tua...
But the likes of Foreman (or Frazier for that matter) are just too tough for Tim.

Frazier, yes. Foreman, I'm not so sure.

Tim was defensively sound and could counter well.

I assumed this was about comeback Foreman, is it not?

Young Foreman poleaxes Witherspoon. Simply a different class of fighter.

The younger Foreman decimates Tim within 5.
The older Foreman also wins but over the decision.

Those who create Foreman threads really do need to state which Foreman they are referring to.

The young Foreman and the Foreman who made the comeback are almost 2 completely different fighters.

I'd say Witherspoon loses to both with or without a spoon. He gets let off easy facing the old Foreman.

An old Foreman vs peak Witherspoon . . Tim by fairly boring decision.

Foreman vs Peak Witherspoon . . Foreman TKO2

Really I actually think this fight would've been really fun around 1996 . . the Foreman who fought Saverese vs the Tim who warred with Mercer. What a fun fight that would've been.
