I agree with all of them except Ellis which of course he actually lost to in his prime. I know there's the 'broken' back thing but Ellis is really a type of fighter that Quarry always had problems with stylistically.

I disagree. with many, in that i see Quarry as extremely overated by most, and comfortably short of the top class of fighter and thus, i dont really think he would ever be favoured to become a world champion. He did have some decent though inconsistent performances. ON the list above, i would say that as well as the fighters listed, he also loses to Willard, Carnera, Johanssen, Ellis, Spinks (michael), Douglas, Schmelling, Baer and Sharkey (assuming all are at their best). I have him 50/50 with Braddock, Paterson (their fights prove this, imo), Rahman, Leon Spinks and Moorer(although if forced to pick, Moorer would be the only one i would pick over him. I favour him over Briggs.

I heartily disagree with boilermopper, and I imagine Quarry stands a fair chance of upsetting the likes of Walcott Foreman, Liston, Tyson and Holyfield.

I'd venture to say he beats a random half of the names I just listed depending on where lady luck sits during those fights.

There's no doubt Max Baer would lose to him, because no matter where Lady Luck sat, Max would be staring at her chest.

I don't think Jerry was over rated, AND he had little in the way of good luck along his path.

Take another look at that list --- plenty of those guys were, "comfortably short," of the top-class of fighter.
