Hearns and Toney are my 2 all time favorite fighters.
I would have to go with Toney is a very tought fight.

Anyone else think Toney would win this?

Hearns UD for me, probably with Toney going down at some point.

Completely wrong style for Toney. Hearns wasn't much slower than RJJ and was a much better boxer. He also had murderous power.
Toney's chin should hold due to his ability to slip punches and negate the power shots but ultimately a one sided affair with Hearns on point maybe 118 to 110.
Wouldn't be totally shocked at a blastout by Hearns though, very few could live with that straight right and I doubt even Hagler would have coped with it ten out ten.

I think Hearns would be outboxing Toney pretty clearly all night, Toney's chin is obviously solid as we all know and I think he could take Hearns' best shots with his defense combined with his granite chin. Unless Toney catches Tommy late like he did with Michael Nunn he ain't gonna win this, but given Tommy's chin it's not out of the question that something like that could happen. Still I'd go with Hearns UD

I think Toney’s chin and Hearns’ bravery play into Toney’s hands…
I would so want to be wrong as Tommy is probably my favourite boxer.
Hearns could outbox Toney (some achievement in itself) but eventually they will end up in the reeds at some point. And James will start to catch up. 10 or 12 rounds it might eb that Tommy makes it voer the finish line. Can’t see it over 15.
At 160 Toney couldn’t get that fat…so that helps him.

Toney would be all wrong for tommy!! Toneys art if making people fall in after making them miss then working in the pocket is the best I've seen & tommy falls in hook line & sinker & the fact hearns fell victim to bravado many times, to me suggest toney gets him slugging & dismantles tommy. Roy jones jnr was not only a supreme athlete with fast hands aswell as feet & also great power but he's ring general ship & smarts are vastly under rated, but I think hearns style would pose him more problems & be far more dangerous.
Old saying one mans meat is another ones poison.not to say tommy beats Roy but the chances are higher. That's my evaluation.

I would disagree with an earlier poster on the styles issue.
I agree with what is stated above.
Toney would have the overall advantage in my estimation.
I'm not sure Hearns would be content to lay low and win a decision that he likely could win.
Instead at some point he loses his cool, gets gassed and at the point Toney has the upper hand it only matters if Hearns was smart enough to put away enough rounds early on to carry him through.

& to think toney took licks off a big punching heavy like Samuels & others & never budged tells you the man is granite.
Not too mention his performance against one of the most naturally gifted boxers in nunn
