Brian Rose first defence
Just announced on his twitter Brian's first defence of his British light middle will be against Max Maxwell in a re-match.
Well chuffed for Maxwell, he's had some horrendous luck/decisions/ref calls against him.

Re: Brian Rose first defence
Decent first defense for Rose, and he can try and get that loss to Maxwell out of his system.
Funnily enough i watch Maxwell v Doran the other day, and it was one of the rounds of the year, probably not for Maxwell as he got stopped (some say early) by Doran.
Rose was coming back from the Rushton win when facing Maxwell the first time, so the outcome of the Rushton fight may of been on Rose's mind, as he didn't seem his usual self in the ring that night.

This is an awful fight and no way Maxwell deserves this shot at Rose, only benefit is that it will remove the doubt after Rose's loss to Maxwell

yeah, imagine giving a title shot to a guy who has banged the champion the fvck out. whatever next, number one challengers being given shots? mandatories being enforced? no wonder boxing is going to the dogs.Camcas wrote:This is an awful fight and no way Maxwell deserves this shot at Rose, only benefit is that it will remove the doubt after Rose's loss to Maxwell

Beat the the current champion!Camcas wrote:This is an awful fight and no way Maxwell deserves this shot at Rose, only benefit is that it will remove the doubt after Rose's loss to Maxwell
Drew with and lost on points to the champ before that!
Dropped and cut and lost by two points to the champ before that!
Drew with contender in eliminater in a war sometime around there!
None of these fights with more than 2 weeks notice perhaps the board and sky realised its not about perfect records but about guys prepared to fight away against who ever and still get results.
Poor post in my opinion.
Re: Brian Rose first defence
good 1st defence nice to see rose wants to avenge his only career loss, would like to see steve o'meara or joe selkirk get a shot at the winner

That was when Arron was half the fighter he is now and he rectified that in their next fight
Max hasn't beaten anyone to warrent this shot and his last victory over a fighter with a winner record was against Rose

Simple question.
Who is more deserving out of those that are available for the fight ?

True mate.
Even so, I can't think of anyone higher in the rankings who would be available and deemed to be right for a voluntary.
I actually thought Max should have been in the other corner not Rose against Arron.

I completely agree. Making the point it is a voluntary and he could have picked an easier voluntary than this.twenty six wrote:True mate.

Great fight and two days in blackpool for me

Re: Brian Rose first defence
The point you are missing is that this is a voluntary defence.
Why would you put yourself against your strongest rival in your first voluntary defence ?
Aside from that I believe at least three already have assignments and therefore wouldn't be available.
There is then the added issue of who Promotes who.

Re: Brian Rose first defence
It is a decent voluntary defence for Rose.
I think Maxwell deserves a title shot after being on the receiving end of possibly the worst stoppage I have seen against Doran.

Re: Brian Rose first defence
I suppose it isn't as bad a fight as I made out looking at it more closely, but i still think that there are better options out there at the moment. Even though it is a voluntary defence he might want to challenge himself more than Maxwell probably will, then again i could be wrong about Maxwelltwenty six wrote:The point you are missing is that this is a voluntary defence.

Foster should have been suspended after that shambles.
Pleased for Maxwell that he gets a shot, and for Rose that he gets a chance to avange his defeat.
Re: Brian Rose first defence
Lloyd Taylor is really a welter and all he as done is win a poor prizefighter at Light Middle, Hall and Webb have had their chances,O'mera has done well lately, but he has been beat when he has stepped up, to be honest there is a lot of fighters all around the same standard in the light middleweight division that Rose could fight, but only Max Maxwell has beat him.Camcas wrote:Hall, Webb, O'Mera, Lloyd Taylortwenty six wrote:Simple question.

Too of whom are FWP fighters so zilch chance of them as voluntary defences. Rose v Maxwell II is a good fight, and has an "angle". Glad to see Maxwell get his chance.
