Best Comeback in a fight in history
heres my top ten greatest comeback list
1. Julio Cesar Chavez Tko 12 Medrick Taylor
2. Deigo Corralles TkO 10 Jose Luis Castillo- have u ever seen a fighter get knocked down twice in a round, nearly have the ref stop the fight, and then that beaten opponent comesback to stop the fighter at the end of the round that dramatically??
3. Jake La Motta Ko 15 Laurenthille Dauthille- well behind on points and unable to do anything, lamotta hurts dauthille and knocks him out with a left hook with 13 seconds left in the fight.
4. George Foreman KO 10 Mike Moorer- i have to give george the credit just because he was 45 years old and losing badly on points with the title at stake.
5. Rocky Marciano KO 13 Jersey Joe Walcott
6. Sugar Ray Leonard TKO 14 Thomas Hearns
7. Joe Louis KO 13 Billy Conn
8. George Foreman KO 5 Ron Lyle
9. Nigel Benn KO 10 Gerald Mccellan
10. James Toney TKO 11 Michael Nunn
im defintely forgetting some important ones so fill me in . ill revise later

Chavez and Taylor was alot closer of a fight than you seem to figure. Taylor flurried alot, but alot of the punches were either blocked or missed their mark. Chavez punch accuracy percentage in those days was very high. I thought the fight was close though I still thought that Taylor was ahead near the end of the fight. I was pullling for Chavez all the way, and when that knock down happened I nearly hit the roof.

Two judges had taylor ahead 108-101 or 9 rounds to 2 while another had taylor ahead 107-102 or 8 rounds to 3. one judge had chavez in front strangely 105-104.
that was a great comeback since it was impossible to win unless by knockout and it was a big fight against undefeated fighters and for the title not to mention it happened with 2 seconds left.

The wildest come from behind knockout that I can think of is when Mike Weaver knocked out John Tate to win the heavyweight title with like seconds left in the fight. Comming from so far behind, to slowly start taking over in the last few rounds pounding Tate to the body and slowly taking Tate apart till the final one punch that dropped him like a fallen tree in the dying seconds of the 15th round. Priceless!

yeah Bonecrusher vs bruno was a big one considering neither were yet legit contenders. the winner of that bout were offered a shot at holmes and holmes ended up beating bonecrusher. frank bruno was outboxing him and smith kept banging away at the body but that wasnt doing any good, and bruno was up around 8 rounds to 1 and smith knocked him out with a combination of punches in the final round.
Two of the greatest comebacks ever.
1958 Archie Moore get's knocked down 4 times by French-Canadian Yvon Durelle in there World Light Heavyweight Title match in Montreal. After each knockdown Moore appears to look toward Durelle while saying "Don't worry I'm OK". Moore then rallies and scores 4 knockdowns of his own in route to an 11th round victory. After the fight Moore is asked if his telling Durelle "Don't worry I'm OK" was an attempt to psyche out his opponent, to which he replies "No, my wife was sitting behind his corner and it was her I was saying don't worry to".
1973 South African Arnold Taylor get's sent to canvas 4 times by Mexico's Romeo Anaya in there World Bantamweight Title match, before he drops Anaya for the count in the 14th. I believe Anaya suffered a broken jaw.

Moore-Durelle is the most amazing comeback I've ever seen, esp. since under modern rules Moore would've suffered a TKO loss.
Castillo-Corrales is tainted by the dispicable ploy of spitting out the mouthpiece to gain a lot of recuperative time. It was an awful refereeing job and it forever tarnishes what was a very entertaining fight.
Marciano-Walcott was actually a pretty close fight at the time of the KO. Marciano was behind but barely.
Toney-Nunn was also a lot close then some have said. Toney was landing HARD shots to the head and body throughout the whole fight even though he lost most of the first 7 rounds due to getting outpunched.
Honorable mention-Norton-Holmes. Even though Ken went on to lose the fight, the way he came back from getting shellacked the first 7 rounds and then nearly getting KO'd in the 13th, to come back and really pour it on Holmes in the 14th and 15th remains one of the gutsiest performances in boxing history.

While the Chavez TKO of M Taylor was definitely exciting....that was a terrible call by Ref Steele (sp) -
Absolutely awful call to stop the fight - M. Taylor was up and nodding and he waves it off (with less than 10 seconds left) - Pure BS!
Chavez was given a gift there and another gift Vs Whitaker who clearly beat his as$ for 9 of th 12 rounds -
While I love Chavez's style......he lost two big fights that he was given gifts in -

Chavez beat the HELL out Taylor. He was out on his feet. Had he not been out on his feet, he would have been looking at Richard Steele like he should have been. Taylor had his career beaten out of him that night. While the Chavez TKO of M Taylor was definitely exciting....that was a terrible call by Ref Steele (sp) -

Best comeback goes to Mike "Hercules" Weaver with his KO of "Big" John Tate. Weaver had been beaten every round and KO'd Tate in the 15th with a beauty of a left hook. Tate fell like a stone, face first. He was OUT!!
..moore/durrell....hell, archie was damn near as old as sharkey the referee in that one...and he used guts, psychology, indcredible determination....smarts, power and some aspects i can't even imagine during that one. then, after the fight...fully refreshed he told the ring side interviewer how much he enjoyed it(!!!!) and sent a get well message to someone whom, as recall was in the hospital...something like that anyway.
it wouldn't have been stopped by today's tko rules, though, as the three knockdown rule is waived for title fights and in most others as well.
oh yes..in the rematch he easily flattened durrell in three.
the others listed on this thread are all good ones too, i think. i juyst had to reaffirm the mention of archie and durrell because it was so phenomenal.
