Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
I've got to figure on Tyson, still.
In 1995-96, his speed was still quite respectable, and he could always take a shot (Smith, Ruddock). Morrison, on the other hand, was never more than a punch away from defeat against any guy even close to Tyson in power.
I suppose it might get interesting if Morrison adopts the hit-and-run tactics of the Foreman fight, but even that would have come up short IMO, and if Morrison is stupid enough to go looking for a fight, well...KO in four.

Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
In hindsight Morrisson had a fantastic chance of beating the post prison Tyson of 95/96. The thing is none of us really knew that Tyson was totally shot mentally, spirit wise, although there wasnt really any physical deteriotion as such skillswise he was a greatly depleted fighter from 1988 or even 1991.
Therefore there is every chance Morrison goes in thinking he is fighting the prime Tyson , as all the media would also say thats the Tyson hes fighting......therefore I think Tyson blazes out and scores a 2nd or 3rd round kayo against a Tommy lacking real belief like many of Tysons foes at his peak.

Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
I can see Morrison boxing intelligently getting past the halfway mark, a few things that made the young Tyson what he was were gone even before he went to prison: the body attack, combinations, he still moved his head but he went from doing it anticipatorily to doing it reactively and became easier to hit. If he struggled with the like of Botha boxing him, it's only going to be worse with a Morrison. Of course if it's a shoot-out I can't see it going two rounds.
Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
Tyson would overwhelm and overpower Morrison.
Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
Tyson would easily just over power Morrison.
Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
It's a fight I would have looked forward to with huge anticipation. However, I don't see Morrision having much chance, as they can both whack, but Tyson take the shot a hell of a lot better than Morrision.
THis version of Tyson by KO - between rounds 4-7.

Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
Yes, Tyson would still be too much for Morrison at this point in his career. As someone said, I could see Morrison maybe able to make it frustrating for Mike in the early going, if he used his hit and run tactics, but Tyson would catch him in the middle of the fight and that would be all she wrote.

In 1996 Tyson would've DEMOLISHED Morrison . . Tommy didn't have the chin or stamina to ever hope of doing what Evander did.

How amazing is it, considering the KO losses Morrison had, that he was able to beat Foreman?

No one sees Morrison catching Tyson with one of those big left hooks (a la Razor Ruddock)?

Re: Tommy Morrison v Mike Tyson
Tyson had too much of a hard head to succomb to Morrison in 96. Holyfield ground him down but Morrison just doesn't have the skills and durability Holyfield has.
Morrison was improved in 96, he could move around and bang back a bit but ultimately he's going out in 3 rds vs post prison Tyson. 80s Tyson likely bangs him out in 1.

Tyson by heavy KO entertaing fight while it lasted. I can't see Morrison outboxing Tyson for 12 rounds like he did against Foreman, as this is the only way he could of won IMO.
