IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
Last Saturdays Joe Hanks-Alfredo Escalera Jr. contest was not for the vacant IBA 'world' heavyweight title, it was for their 'Americas' belt:

Also, the James Toney-Damon Reed contest was not for the IBA title either. In fact Toney was stripped of their belt the day following that contest.
I also noticed that BoxRec doesn't have any of Gene Pukalls WAA 'world' title contests listed!

What is the WAA? A respected world boxing organisation, I have missed?SteveO wrote:Last Saturdays Joe Hanks-Alfredo Escalera Jr. contest was not for the vacant IBA 'world' heavyweight title, it was for their 'Americas' belt:

Re: IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
this is crazy loads of world titles ha
Re: IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
I'm not bothered if BoxRec want to cover it or not but it's just as relevant as the many other 'titles' that BoxRec do cover!computerrank wrote:Boxrec will not cover this, I guess
I reckon these belts are important to the boxers that win them at least.
Re: WAA
The fights that have been mentioned in the wiki article have all been tagged as WAA title fights in BoxRec except for Sean O'Grady's two title fights at welterweight: http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=23614; http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=23615.computerrank wrote:Boxrec will not cover this, I guess:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Athletic_Association
The other fights in the article are (in order of appearance):
- http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=23614; http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=25243
- http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=33094
- http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=72795; http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=72793
- http://boxrec.com/show_display.php?show_id=23883
It is then said that the WAA split into a Colorado-based and an Oklahoma-based version. No title fights are mentioned for that period.
The records of the fighters who are supposed to be holders of the latest version of the title (Rob Calloway, Ray Domenge, Jonathan Corn, Harold Brazier, and Rob Bleakley) all register WAA title fights except for that of Gene Pukall.

Re: IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
Pukall's last fight against Ingo Jaede was for the WBU title. http://wbu.kilu.de/index.php/using-joom ... t-champion
Looks like they have a champion at pretty much every weight which is more than you can say about the other "lower tier" organisations. http://www.wbu-boxing.com/index.php?opt ... &Itemid=27
Are those going to be shown on BoxRec?

Re: IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
frankly all titles should be in the wiki....Boxrec should be about the fight between the individuals not about the sanction body irrespective of their quality or proflicacy (WBA)...

Re: IBA Heavyweight Title Fights
not sure I agree with that. WHen fighters have a title on the line I like to be able to click on the title to see who else fought for it, when, where etcstac wrote:frankly all titles should be in the wiki....Boxrec should be about the fight between the individuals not about the sanction body irrespective of their quality or proflicacy (WBA)...
Its all about the info

The reader knows what is legit and what isnt and what is in between legit. Lay the information out there and let they reader decide. This site should be about plain facts, not judging what is legit and what aint
