Issac Fleming - maybe one for the older guys?

Post by stujones »

Just seen a re-run of Muhammad Ali's interview with Dickie Davies and a celebrity audience.... must be one of the first "audience with" ever. The show was originally broadcast in 1974 and Ali is on song.

Anyway, towards the end of the show Ali spars with a 17 year old kid called Issac Fleming. He looks a little like Sugar Ray Robinson, although he didn't look like much good when going through the motions with Ali..... Just found it a little odd they invited a "boxer" on that show, if he was a complete notive (which is what it appeared on the sparring) - anyone know what became of him. He was Jamiacan.

Just watched this on ESPN Classic. It's repeated at 4.25 this afternoon. Really entertaining stuff. Ali at his best as he fields questions from a star studded audience including Ed Stewpot Stewart and Please Sir's John Alderton.

Following the showing 54 year old cafe owner Isaac Fleming has today been ranked #13 at Light-heavyweight by the WBO and is apparently on stand-by should Karpency fail the medical. When asked if his 37 year inactivity and complete lack of professional record would hurt him he languidly replied "No miles on di clock man, alls cool, if dis Nay-tun Clevlee take mi too liyt-lee he in for big suprise"

The fight promoter was unavailable for comment.

They interviewed Issac last night on the ITV show, he didn't say he did anything else in boxing.
