Getting massive brah...

Post by jBacca »

Right, been quiet on here as have had a heavy time since starting uni. New year now though. Fresh start.

I was wondering if you homs could tweek my regime and advise to which products suit my need. I'm trying to put mass on, not tone down. I'm also trying to lose fat around the waist and arse/thighs (I look like a pear).

I'm hitting the gym 4/5 times a week. This will likely reduce though as I start back up boxing. Will aim to be going the gym at least three times a week.

I was doing 3x sets of 8 reps at a weight I could pull it off. Gradually increasing the weight. Now I've gone up a weight and am banging out as many reps as I can (normally 5/6).

I'm working all the muscles in my upper body.

I haven't done any leg exercises or cardio. I plan on doing cardio when I go boxing. Will this work my legs enough (I'm unsure of the importance of doing me legs)?

I'm eating kinda' well but could improve...

... Fruit granola for brekky.
... Fruit for snack.
... Beans/eggs on toast or peanut butter on toast for dinner.
... Fruit for snack.
... Lean meat with plenty of veg for tea.
... 2x boiled eggs for snack.

On the weekend I've been eating freely. I understand I should limit this to one day a week but I've not got to that stage yet.

Most importantly, I'm after a product that will help me get bigger. I'm not after protein alone, but something that has a bit of everything in it.

Lastly, have any of you got any secrets or tips that help with building myself up? Any food products at the supermarket that have great benefits, e.g. liquid beetroot, powdered egg whites?

Cheers folks, and once again, I've only just started back at the gym but will be getting very strict on myself in a few weeks.

SQUATS my friend, SQUATS.
leg training is hugely important to gaining size, the largest muscle groups help stimulate the most testosterone - which in turn stimulates growth.
plus a bloke once told me a saying about guys that only do upper body training and no legs - you cant fire a cannon out of a kayak.
also focus your training on the main lifts, squat, dead lift, lunge, bench press, pullups, dips.
apart from that, any supplements you may take are a waste of time if your not eating an adequate amount of good food.
i suggest goole search a BMR calculator to figure this amount out.

Eat alot of the good food brah, Protein, complex carbs, fruit & veggies etc...

Set out a good eating plan, eating every 2 - 3 hours 6 times a day. Look at some of these diets from a previous thread: http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=145066

If your hitting the gym 4 times a week, thats perfect. Here is my gym routine:

Monday: Legs and abs.
Tuesday: Chest and biceps.
Wednesday: Rest or do some cardio.
Thursday: Back and triceps.
Friday: Shoulders and abs.

Im currently shredding, so im doing alot of cardio too.

Train hard in the gym focusing on the main body parts, i agree with BigRed, Legs are a must.(the largest muscle groups help stimulate the most testosterone, this also includes doing back).

Supplements help, try getting on a weight gainer. Its packed with protein plus carb.

Im only on whey protein coz im not looking at putting on any weight as im trying to shred.

I take a pre workout supplement to get me pumped before pumping weights and amino during my workout for recovery.
Also you should be taking your multi vitamins everyday along with your fish oil.

Remember all of these things work together, you cant do one thing and leave out another.
Hope i didnt leave anything out.

If not, just jump on the juice brah. :DD

I fecking hate squatting. I was petrified of failing with 120kgs on the back, but I failed for the first time on Friday. Actually was a piece of piss - just let it roll off my back. That should help me improve my weight.

And yes, do squat. It's hard but gooooooooood.

Cheers boys. Yet to do any squatting but 'looking' forward to it.

Any recommendations for a good weight gainer?

Something like CNP Pro Mass is what my mates always used to use. I was given some samples recently of the Kinetica Oat Gain. Tasted very good. Only used the sample as i'm not trying to bulk up, but it's about 600calories per serving and looks to have everything it needs in it. Might be worth reading a few reviews and see what users think.

Tar lar. Was put onto the CNP stuff by our kid who's up at Joe Gallagher's now and again, but I was after an unbiased opinion. I'll check that other stuff out as well.
