Matthews down body shot. Up just at the bell.

Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Well the Italian looked good, maybe Derry could complain of an earlyish stoppage, but he looked banged up there.
Unlucky tonight Derry, but yet again you gave us a great fight

Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
He took a shellacking but gave a fair bit and showed a lot of heart
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Can't blame Foster for stopping it. Maybe Foster could have told Matthews during a break that he's close to being stopped. With that said. No complaints really.
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
It was a fine stoppage; Matthews stayed in there but he was getting battered.

Sensational effort from Derry there - sure he'll come back again
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Matthews always looks frail when stepped up in class.
Did his best though and gave a good account of himself.

Read that as well. Very profitable read I must say.MachoMan09 wrote:Cheers.leforge wrote:Vaughns I think!MachoMan09 wrote:Forgive my ignorance, who is Derry's manager?
I read a piece by Dan Hunter on 'Crunchsports' earlier today; as it turns out he called this fight almost perfectly (he said 8, it was 7). For you gamblers out there, he's a pretty handy tipster is Hunter.

unlucky Derry that boy was a bit of a banana skin.
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Stoppage seemed oddly timed for me, not early as such but when there was a bit of a lull in the action - it looked like Derry had weathered the storm.
You really gritted it out there. Where's that Italian been..... got some real natural gifts. Don't think he will go much further his age is against him, plus I did think he was slowing up, I aint sure he is a 12 round fight.

Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Round 6 has to be remembered come December for round of the year, that was brilliant
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Good little dust up that. Love it when a fighter comes to fight and isn't just there to boost a record. Thought derry dug in well and without the busted nose causing him problems would've had a good chance of taking him out late on. Can Derry box on tho with that nose, needs a long lay off, for it to recover.
Re: Emiliano Marsili v Derry Matthews
Probably like most who watched the fight i'd never seen or heard of the Italian before the fight but after assessing his unbeaten record on boxrec which can either reveal soft or strong competition i got the impression he would win so not surprised by the result.iamasadlittleboy wrote:Round 6 has to be remembered come December for round of the year, that was brilliant
