Indeed, I've talked to Glyn about this before and I believe this seems to be the only USP left - good writing. Oh, and having an opinion.

Private Eye isn't doing too badly and their design hasn't changed significantly in decades.

I hate all this whizz-bang Smash Hits multi-platform integrated media bollocks.

There has to be a balance though and a little updating here and there wouldn't hurt.

Appreciate the input mate, genuinely. Not saying 'no change ever', not by a long way. Remember we were printing colour glossy when BN and Ring were BW on reconstituted toilet paper, so we do have an awareness in this area. Those mags have become more like us in look than us like them, that's fact. But the way we look at the moment is pretty much a statement and a stance. No 'gimmicks' kind of thing. The look reflects the editorial policy and deliberately so. It is an overall view and it's driven by belief rather than reaction. But of course we will tart up every now and again, we always have. And then when we do we are accused of 'being in trouble'! So it goes.

Good to see Glyn writing features again, not that I have read it yet, only had a chance to scan the current issue, but look forward to reading it over the weekend

Alright Danny, while were on the topic (kind of) who is your target audience for fighting fit? How are sales going? Had an interesting conversation about it today with a couple of young lads i'm training, they felt that it was very difficult to follow and was lacking in relativity to them, and their goals. Who do you want to buy the mag? I think its a belter by the way and rarely miss a copy.

Same for BN and BM... great, great mags that make every shit I have that much more satisfying.

I'm not Danny Flexen so can't answer that I'm afraid pal. He's Dbflex.

As a subscriber for 14 years, and it even followed me when I emigrated to the USA. I can't say how pleased I am to get each month's mag in the mailbox.

The lack of agenda is pleasantly refreshing when you look at the competition both in the trade & national press - yes Mr Allegedly I'm talking about your "column" in various national papers.

Also, if you don't have Glyn followed on twitter, sort it out fast. The man is friendly and genuinely appreciates constructive, fan feedback as shown on this very thread.

Hell, he even took the time to reply & thank me for making a positive post for him & BM.

Got it today and not read all but some good articles this month, the ones I have read;
Bunceys Charity Tax , when you hear people like Barkley talking on BN skint and ready to fight again and other boxing legends on the skids his donations to the fighters funds are a good idea.
Borges banging the drum for Mayweather was deserved and well done.
Macklin article was very interesting he comes across as a man who knows he's made some rash decisions but is plowing his own furrow no matter what he's leaving behind him.
Groves interview was excellent, tackled the FW issue and the changes in Hayemaker . That answer to the retirement question show he never took Haye's retirement date completely seriously.
Kevin Maree comes across well and Ovil Mckenzie was a good interview too.

Error 'Brook, Watson and Cook couldn't budge Jones but I did' Liam Smith.

Complaint (to CNP) ; it wouldn't have been hard to photoshop the stringy bit of saliva hanging out of David Prices mouth for the full page spread.

Liam said 'There's kids who didn't budge him, I did' to make the point that Barrie is a tough guy after mentioning that the only other people who had stopped him are Brook, Watson and Cook. Liam's coming on a bomb in recent fights, he did well on Saturday against Morby and will be one to watch in 2012.

He did but the header read what I quoted which was confusing . Yeah he did well against the bigger Morby who was in survival mode and who took a fair few shots.

Good editorial as usual. I do think a lot of promotors are not addressing the declining audience figures boxing gets on tv these days. Darts gets usually higher weekly audience. The brook average figures were around 350k which is 250k higher than average viewing figures. I think allegedly figures must be under 10k per live event.

Haven't picked it up yet but by coincidence was reading a 1999 copy, don't ask, and it was Ike in that too following his knockout of Chris Byrd.
