Cool thread. They fought twice in 1997.

1st bout was in Castro's homeland(Argentina) and he edged Duran on the cards. 2nd bout was in Duran's Homeland(Panama),and HE edged it on the scorecards. 8)

Duran was going on 46 in the first encounter and then a few months past 46 in the rematch. Both fights Duran was in remarkable condition. Totally remarkable. He should've retired after the rematch imo.

Its like they were made for each others styles,i dont know, hard to explain, incredibly underrated fights for sure though.
They just opted to go right at it and brawl and maul away,no legit strategy or safety first gameplans, just good ole fashioned maulin and brawlin. Both fights were very forminable level scraps for the most critical of action fight fans.
Had they fought in a different era, say,Duran of the early to mid 80's against the castro of the early to mid 90's,it would've been quite similiar still imo. Duran would've landed slightly more though in that scenario. I think any version of Duran would've been quite respectfull of Castro's resiliance/toughness and surprise type punching power though.
