Man Up Frankie

Post by Coco »

Fight Jason Cook, you look like a bottle job otherwise.

If you are training as hard as you say and are half as good as you think you will have to overcome fighters of Cookie`s calibre if you are going to make British Champ let alone anything further.

On the plus side for Johnny Greaves there could be a payday waiting for you here.

i thought he was already scheduled to fight him?

whats the latest?

Kevin Mcintyre offered his services to Dean Powell for a match with frankie also a while back
would be good one to showcase Frankie in Scotland on Ricky Burns show.

Beating Cook convincingly will get him a title fight and obv the bigger money. Complaints about the purse here seem bogus.

Expect a Lithuanian journeyman which will be a step backwards.

Oh no! If thisi s true its just another nail in the coffin of the career of what should have been one of the best we ever produced in Britain. Frankie has been on here a couple of times stating how everything is back to the way it should be and that his training and life are back on track yet he is still not willing to put himself to the test it seems. A fit and motivated Frankie Gavin beats Jason Cook 99 times out of a 100 in my opinion, unfortunately it doesn't look like we are ever going to see a fit and fully motivated Frankie ever again. Absolute crying shame to see talent of that magnitude go to waste!!!!!!!!!!

And Frankie is hardly the only boxer in financial conflict with his promoter at the moment.

Fcuk Frankie.
Still haven't forgiven him for this (I posted it on July 16 here):
€20 treble on

Bellew points win @10/3
Gavin KO/TKO @4/6
Mitchell KO/TKO @5/1

€20 pays €866 with Paddy Power.

Thoughts?
Really feel Mitchell can do Murray, Bomber will box a little more cautiously en route to points win and Frankie will bamboozle Curtis and stop him.
4/6 on Frankie stoppage is an excellent bet.

What do you reckon lads?

So you are saying that it is not about the money?
You were ready to fight Cleverly weight drained at a days notice. Frankie is not a kid no more he needs to get on with things. Things do not look too bright if he is not willing to take these type of risks.
His team are the ones that wanted the fight, it is Frankie that pulled out. He claims to be in the gym and fit, so when would be a good time to take on Cook? He needs to be able to be able to get past the like of the veteran Welshman, who did all his fighting at lightweight if he is to go past domestic level.

The logic and reasoning is absolutely spot on Coco! You can't really argue with that Bomber.

To be honest, he needs to either sh!t or get off the pot.

If I understand correctly, the issue here is about money ?

He p!ssed his promoter off last time with his disappearing act, and this will hardly improve their relationship (how many other promoters (who could take a boxers career to top titles) would be willing to take him on?).

He needs to be very careful in the decisions he makes in the next few months, as they could affect his whole career.

Farnkie has been out for a while and will need to ease back. Jason Cook is not a push over, he's turned a few good men over; if Frankies' timing was out by half a second Cook could well clock him good. Lets be right about it; a fit and focussed Gavin would box Jason to a wide decision.

Frankie has had a pretty crap year or so and people expected the world and more from him. He's not going to be a hall of famer or pound for pound best but is still in with a shout of making a good name for himself as a top level pro boxer.

Frankie has been on here saying he has been training hard and has not been out for 8 weeks. Plus he has another month before the fight.
He has not been out that long. He has claimed he is not getting enough money. Bellew has said different on this thread.
If Gavin is going to get past domestic level he needs to be able to beat a 37 year old veteran whose championship days were at 2 weights below. He has 12 weeks notice, how long does he need??
And this fight has been agreed well in advance, this was the fight his team wanted. Why only now pull out because of money?
FW does pay his boys well.
It's a bottle job.

A huge part of boxing is mental attitude, when a young talent is starting out and he is winning most of the time and being selected for various squads, everyone wants to be your friend and involved with your career. You get praise alot of the time and hyped up by various agencys.

then professional life doesn't turn out to be what they thought, it must be differcult to accept that this isn't happening the way you wanted it to, suddenly all the back slappers have become back stabbers. It can have a huge effect on mental attitude .

Frankie needs to be right in body and mind before getting back into the ring.

listen people iv known frankie for a few years now, and i can gaurente he is not scared of no man. he would fight any1 in an instant.

iv seen him spar people who out weigh him by 2/3 stone, iv seen him have some amazing spars with matty hall and neither men took a backward step. there is no way frankie is scared i could'nt tell you the reason he has pulled out the fight but i can promise you its not down to lack of bottle.

im sure frankie has a good reason :TU:

I've no axe to grind and think that Jason Cook is still a danger; Gavin may have trained consistently and knuckled down; he may have got his head right. Still; Cook is a bad boxer to come back against after a 6 month break and if Cook got him his career would be very badly damaged. Cook is a bigger risk because of Frankies last 12 months.. If Frankie had been consitent and training well and improving I doubt that money would be an issue; Jason would be seen as a tough man who could be outboxed and not a serious threat.
