Amateur Trainer required to join Gym in Notts .

Post by damianhucker1 »

Just a quick post for the benefit of my friend Lee Kidger .

He runs the Pro-Am gym in Nottingham called The Bronx .

Hes been training all the fighters himself since he opened the gym in April 2011 alongside his assistant coach but has now got 3 lads hes ready to turn over and wants to also encourage other local pros into his gym , due to this hes struggling to find time to be able to train his group of youngsters that he wants to be boxing amateur , hes been delegating it out to people such as myself at times but im no coach and neither of us want to hinder the progress of them .

So Basically if theres an amateur trainer on here who is based in or around Nottingham that has no gym to base themselves at then message me on here , as you are really needed .

Thanks

i think your best bet here is to contact an old boxer and see if you can put them through the course. Maybe Del Bryan or someone like that. Or Des

you know yourself mate what its like at bronx , but as an example last night there was 21 kids of about 11 or 12 years old and 6 adults that are all beginners but no amateur trainer for them so they just had to do what the rest were doing and then obviously couldnt get involved in the sparring , i know not all of these would stick to it and of those who do not all will want to box amateur but would be good for them and for the gym if there was an amateur trainer about for them , theres 2 trainers there but they are pro trainers and want to say so , they do a bit with the amateurs but theyve just not got time to much , its getting that busy that its now open all day most days .

Yeah he is a funny old one. Last time i spoke to him he said he was just going to go from gym to gym and pick up as much as possible. can be detrimental too as they'll teach him different things that will counteract what he was previously taught. His major flaw his he keeps his hands down by his chin, and has been struggling to get inside of late. I think he just gets stale places and needs to move on to different places on a regular basis to keep fresh. I might be down soon to see how he getting on, hope he does well

Think he likes Lees Methods and Lee like to train fighters of that style so should be a good match in theory

He will do well as a pro , i believe hes possibly the best Welterweight/Light Middleweight in the East Midlands right now , before he even turns pro , and you know a few lads that i also know who are included whos name i wont bring into the conversation , but id say Brendan could get in the ring with most of them Tomorrow and ko them .

I just hope i get my promotors License soon enough to sign him before anyon else does , so no mentioning his surname yet mate , dont want to lose out :TU:

Just a heads up though. He can't deal with boxers and really really struggles with southpaws. Get Lee to work on the southpaw aspect with him. He was getting out-boxed regularly towards the end at our gym and was so frustrated when boxing southpaws. But yeah him and Lee may be a better fit as our gym trains people to box.

Ill mention to lee as im going tonight , Im sure he will have already sussed that out but ill mention just in case , i think the lad he knocked out in leicester was southpaw but was more of a brawler than a boxer , your gym has to train people to box mate its amateur , Brendans Tysonesque style wont really be as effective in amateurs as it would in pros .

Very true. We have one or 2 that can adapt though. But occasionally you get someone who comes along who has one style. Such as Brendan. if im not fighting feb 18th ill be at your show anyway. think ill be cornering Phil and Andy

Adnan comes down our gym quite a bit now. For obvious reasons Jav didn't have him and Brendan spar. Adnan is a stylistic nightmare for him

Adnans Never sparred when hes been down to us , rather annoyingly , would have liked Kev to learn from a bit of sparring with him .
