They totally left him out to dry, too. I would have expected Al to say something about technical difficulties or something, but he pretty much just said "we'll talk to Chuck later" or something like that.

Did they actually go back to Chuck later? Or did they dump him there and then?

Yeah wasn't particularly fair of them...

They also had Andre Ward on...I swear he must have gone to the bog mid show and never returned

They went back to him Harold Lederman-style, but I don't think they put him back on camera again. He sounded a little uncomfortable even then.

He works as a judging consultant and basically like an agent/mentor for aspiring judges, too. I wrote him for advice on how to get started and he tried to sign me up for like 1500 bucks. Too rich for my blood.

Something about that sounds wrong, slightly iffy. Know what I mean?

Yeah I don't know. He basically said he knows all the powers that be in the state commissions and can help me navigate the process of getting licensed and then getting assignments, and also that he could tell me what organizations to join to start getting high-profile out-of-state work, as well as imparting his philosophy and stuff like concentration techniques. On one hand I've heard that getting work as a judge is based heavily upon showing the head of the commission that you're serious about doing a good job by gestures like attending more than just the required trainings, etc., and I suppose having the commission be aware that you've hired a pretty legendary judge to help you would be a good and fairly legitimate way to do that. On the other hand, I'm not sure how comfortable I am with the idea that if I don't hire somebody to lobby for jobs on my behalf, I might lose out to someone who did. So yeah I guess I'd say there are some legitimate aspects and some semi-fishy ones.
