My gut instinct tells me this is about money, and nothing else. Maybe a bit of principle too.

Dont really blame Frankie for not going with Cook first fight back, he's been out a while and Cook is still a dangerous fight imo.

Would like to see him fight Cook by April though

I would imagine someone who is cheap as Frankie was not willingly to fight Cook for the money they offered this opponent wont be good.

Frankie Gavin won't be able to shake off the doubters until he faces and comes through a couple of real live opponents. Other than Curtis Woodhouse (personally i thought Woodhouse shaded it) he hasn't really beat anyone of note yet. He hasn't got all the time in the world and if he is going to make a mark on the pro boxing scene then he will have to start producing very soon before the public and his promoter give up on him. 2012 really is the make or break year for Frankie Gavin i think. Lets hope it is the year he starts to fulfill his potential!

After all he's done you'd think Gavin would fight Cook for any amount of money. It's not as if he's going to earn anymore fighting a Latvian. Sometimes you have to question how many brain cells that lad has. I reckon you could figure it out using your toes.

Admit you've been a twat, face Cookie, look good, then demand more money. Jeez - basic economics in boxing, especially for a young pro who has been useless so far.

Told you you were like an old woman.

Not the best opponent but not the worst. Better than a Latvian, no?

Think the De Gale story and frankies own post enlightens me more on this story than your tittle tattle, so fill your boots.

Next you'll be telling me he's getting more money to face McMillan than Cook.
Face up to it, Gavin has side stepped Cook.

So 12 weeks notice is not enough to take on a 37 year old veteran who mainly has campaigned at 2 weights below in an 8 rounder??
Very poor showing considering your team had agreed terms with Cook and he was training hard for the fight.
Of course Gavin will be on less money for his new opponent and I bet FW is not happy either.
You would be in a good position to challenge for titles and demand more money with a good showing against Cook, now you are taking steps backwards.
There is no logic to what you are doing on any level, unless you have not been in the gym and need an easy fight or your ass has just gone because Cook is a rough handful who can bang.

Didn't want to fight Adnan Amar or Junior Witter.

The posters on here who said he'd beat Kell Brook have gone quiet.

No I won't, you're just being a bit silly there.

Nonsense aside, you know enough about boxing to know about risk/reward, it has to be feasible for a number of reasons or it just doesn't make sense (think Rhodes-Small  ).
