10 Best Fights - MW & LW...

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

Looking to purchase some classics from these two divisions, as Im light on both (in terms of highly entertaining affairs).

Recommendations? Which are the BEST (most exciting) bouts from 135 & 160 you can think of?

LW: you got Rosario - Camacho?
Mancini - Frias short but sweet Chacon - Frias at 135 it's horrible to watch a fat chacon but still an entertaining fight
Mancini - Kim brutal slugfest
Buchanan - Watt very under-rated fight IMO

all i can think of offhand

Off the top of my head and in varying degrees of entertainment, I assume you've seen the first but I have to list it just in case.

Lee/Locicero
Barkley/Sims
Taylor/Davis, Jr.
Medel/Hargrove
Pettway/Brown
Benitez/Weston

barkley/duran is a must. maybe barkley should have got the decision but i thought duran earned it....in the round in which duran scored a knockdown, the knockdown itself is textbook. watch duran set it up with precision...his footwork and balance show a great fighter, past his prime against a tough opponent are a marvel to see.

Truer words have never been spoken, but Duran drives Irene into hate spasms at the mere mention of his name.

I assumed he meant between the weight classes, though on second glance I think you're correct. You forgot to correct me on Taylor/Davis, Jr., Medel/Hargrove & benitez/Weston. You should have just bolded the two i had right.

Thanking all of you. Im nearly done deciding which I'll buy.

Saad,

I dont like Duran, but its how sickeningly over-rated and fawned over he is which boils my blood so. He is celebrated for his filthy cheating, excused for EVERY loss, and as over-rated in all-time LW lists as Chavez is in all-time Mexican lists.

I see Duran as a bit erratic in his later career, but that almost adds to his legacy. Just when people might have began to under rate him he would bomb back in to the scene with renewed and unexpected fervor. He may have been the James Brown of boxing......(hardest working man in pugilism)...lol.

The first Benvenuti-Griffith fight is one I would think about getting.

Just a question to GI. Why would you want to buy those dvds when you can watch them at youtube.com? I want to know your answer.

I thought the second one at Yankee Stadium was lackluster. If memory serves and I could well be wrong, there was a rain delay which pushed it back a day and I generally think that it not good for the fighters.

Their 3rd fight was better, but I always thought the first was best.

So he can watch them on his TV instead of on his computer and own them. I have roughly 2,000 fights on DVD. That isn't much of a question Elmer. Here is a better one. What's your all time top 100 fighters?

Edit: Both Monzon/Valdez fights are excellent and I love Luis rodriguez/Rubin Carter.
